Panamanian coffee
Panama is the southernmost country in Central America, bordering the Caribbean Sea to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, Costa Rica to the north and Colombia to the south. It is an important isthmus connecting North and South America. Under the influence of such geographical location, Panama has a complex and changeable microclimate, and the east-to-west environment allows cold air to flow through the Central Mountains and converge above 6500 feet, thus forming a very unique microclimate in the Boquete and Volc á n Candela regions, making it a major producer of Panamanian coffee. The land around this area is rich in nutrients, and these fertile soils provide perfect conditions for the growth of coffee.

Walken producing area
Coffee producing areas are mainly divided into Boquete, Volcan-Candela and Renacimiento. These producing areas are located around the country's three volcanoes: Volc á n Baru of Baru, El Valle of Erbaye and Le Yeguada of Rajaguada.

When it comes to Panamanian coffee cultivation, many people will think of Poquet, but in recent years, there are good estates in Walken that often appear on BOP and even win championships. The Walken producing area, which is 1200-1600 meters above sea level, has less rainfall than Poquet, but the geographical environment to the west of Mount Baru, volcanic soil and high altitude also give coffee trees a good growing environment. Earlier, most of the cash crops such as fruits and vegetables were planted in Walken, and only a few farmers grew coffee, among which the Hartman family was the pioneer of coffee cultivation in Walken.
Hartman Manor
Alois Strasil Hartmann (ancestor of the Hartmann family) was born in the then Austro-Hungarian Empire (present-day Czech Republic). Later, due to the unstable national political situation, Alois decided to start a new life out of town. At first, Alois stayed in New York and then moved to Panama, but after a few months, Alois found that he was not used to urban life in Panama City, then came along the mountains to settle down in Walken, and later married and gave birth to Hartmann Troetsch. Then Troetsch inherited his father's farmland from 1940 and began to prepare the land and created the history of Hartman Manor to this day.
At the initial stage of development, the old Hartman decided to retain most of the original woodland in the manor, and this concept of primary forest protection has always influenced the third generation of manor owners who are now in charge of management. Hartman Manor still maintains this tradition. The coffee planting land in the manor accounts for only about 20% of the whole manor. due to the results of woodland conservation, there are quite a lot of native birds in the manor. And the most famous big-billed bird in the area has also become the standard Logo of the manor. At present, the manor is jointly run by five children, and each child is responsible for coffee growth management, harvesting and handling, and manor visits. And bought the melon and fruit estate north of Hartman Manor (Guarumo Coffee Farm) in 2013. At present, Hartman Manor has a wide variety of coffee, including Typica, Kaddura, Catuai, Bourb ó n, Pacamara, Maragogipe, Geisha and so on.
