Today, when Qianjie was cleaning diligently, a filter cup that had been dusty for many years was found in the corner of the storeroom. After cleaning, it is found that this filter cup is a good-looking "diamond filter cup" (also known as diamond filter cup). Although it has been purchased for a long time, Qianjie does not seem to have a particularly detailed "anatomy" (introduction) of this filter cup.

So, today Qianjie to share, this gorgeous shape of the "diamond filter cup", in the end whether it works!

Before introducing the diamond filter cup, let's share the company that invented the filter cup in the front street. Although the diamond filter cup is not very famous, the company that produces it has a long history. Diamond filter cup is designed and invented by Japanese Key coffee (key Coffee), which was founded in 1920 and now has a history of more than 100 years. It is one of the oldest coffee roasters in Japan. They not only have their own coffee plantations abroad, but also have stores in Japan. And because the stores are full of traditional Japanese atmosphere, it is often called one of the pronouns of "Kissaten". (the word Kissaten has the meaning of a traditional Japanese cafe in Japanese, one of which is because he is not alone.)

Then again, this diamond filter cup, like the V60 filter cup, uses a tapered design. But the difference is that the diamond filter cup does not have very prominent diversion ribs, but is replaced by countless edges like diamond incisions. These "diamond" edges and corners will also support the filter paper, creating gaps that allow coffee powder to be fully vented.

However, the flow rate of the diamond filter cup will not be as fast as the V60, because it is observed in the front street that its sewer hole will be smaller than the V60, which will reduce the release channel of the water flow and increase the contact time between water and powder. With the narrow and wide cone structure, the coffee will taste thicker than the V60 in the same brewing way.

The material for shaping the diamond filter cup is polycarbonate, which is made of the same plastic as resin, but it has higher transparency and good impact resistance. In other words, this material gives the filter cup a more transparent appearance, but also resistant to falling! On the packing box, the manufacturer marked that the suitable cooking capacity of the filter cup is 1 to 4 people, that is to say, it is compatible with 01 and 02 models of filter paper, and has a wide range of applicability. All right, that's all the information about the filter cup. Then let's try it on Qianjie. What is the performance of the coffee brewed from this filter cup?

The coffee beans used in this test are the red standard of Rosa Village, which is lightly roasted. It has a very full fruit flavor from Ethiopia and is very suitable for testing beans as a fast-paced filter cup. The parameters are the same as those normally cooked with V60: the amount of powder is 15g, the grinding scale is 10 degrees of Ek43, the over-screening rate of No. 20 sieve is 80%, the ratio of fine sugar to water is 1:15, the water temperature is 92 °C, and the cooking method is conventional three-stage type. So first of all, let's wet the filter paper and make it fit with the filter cup. Because the amount of powder used in Qianjie is 15g per person, it is natural to use model 01 tapered filter paper.

It can be seen that the degree of fit between filter paper and filter cup is relatively high. Then we pour in the coffee powder and begin to brew. At the beginning, we still use twice the amount of water (30ml) of powder to steam!

After steaming for 30 seconds, we use a large flow of water to inject 130ml hot water around a large circle to raise the powder bed.

When the water has infiltrated, we inject the remaining 65ml hot water around the coin in a small circle (the size of the white foam below). Then you just need to wait for the end of the drip filtration to complete the extraction!

The extraction time was 2 minutes and 05 seconds. Indeed, the flow rate of this filter cup is a little slower than that of the V60. And the taste of coffee, as Qianjie guessed, will be thick. Citrus, berry flavor performance is also obvious, through fine taste, we can feel the rose aroma, acidity will be relatively low, sweet performance is very good. To sum up, we can understand it as a V60 filter cup with a slightly slower flow rate. But the difference is that it will be more gorgeous and better-looking. In terms of price, the two are more or less the same, and there is not much difference. So on the whole, the performance-to-price ratio and performance of this filter cup are quite good.
