Which is better, Guixia or Huakui coffee? Are Huakui and Guixia the same coffee variety? What is the difference between Huaquai and Geisha?
If a customer wants the most cost-effective coffee beans, then Huakui must be one of the most recommended beans on Qianjie. But every time Huakui is mentioned on the front street, some customers will say something like this: "Oh, I know Huakui, it is a variety of Guixia/a variety of Guixia! "It can be found that to this day, there are still many friends who have the wrong view of Huakui, thinking that 'Huakui is Rose Summer.' But in fact, flower queen and rose summer are two completely different concepts. The flower is the flower, and the rose summer is the rose summer! If you have to say what they have in common, it is that "they all originated in Ethiopia." Then why do many friends have such misunderstandings? Then what is the difference between Huakui and Guixia? Today, Qian Jie will come to share again what the differences are between them!
What's the difference between a flower queen and a rose summer? Many friends 'misunderstandings about Hua Kui and Guixia mainly come from the wrong interpretation of the names! "Rose Summer" refers to a coffee variety, which is a variety name. The so-called variety refers to a biological group with stable genetic characteristics and a common phenotype. For example, when talking about rose summer (Panama T2722), we will immediately think of coffee beans with sharp ends and slender bodies, and then this variety will have a strong floral and fruity charm.
"Huakui" is a trade name that does not refer to a particular variety, but refers to coffee beans produced from Gujihambella, Ethiopia. More accurately, it should refer to the award-winning sun-cured coffee beans produced by the Buku Abel processing plant in Hambella, Ethiopia in 2017. In February 2017, Ethiopia's DW Coffee Company sent a sun-cured coffee bean to participate in the TOH (Ethiopia's Raw Bean Competition). This coffee bean came from the Buku Abel processing plant in Hambella in the Gujizi region. In the end, it won the crown of the sun exposure group with its extremely strong strawberry aroma and creamy texture.
The next story is probably familiar to everyone on Qianjie. This batch of coffee beans that won the championship were picked up and photographed by a raw bean trader in Beijing. In addition, the raw bean company named it "Huaquai" based on its status as a champion, which means "the leader of hundreds of flowers, the beauty of the whole family", and then began to sell it in the domestic market. Immediately afterwards, this "flower queen" team was brought to the field by a player in the coffee brewing competition to serve as competition beans, and defeated many players who used rose summer on the scene, becoming the runner-up in the competition that year. And this made Hua Kui famous!
With its outstanding flavor that can defeat Rose Summer and its extremely people-friendly price, Huaquai has quickly become a high-quality Ethiopian coffee widely recognized by people in the circle. Since then, Huakui's sales and reputation have soared, and market demand has soared. So DW began to add additional processing plants to increase the production of coffee beans. They have added four new independent green coffee bean processing plants in Dimtu Town, where Huaqua was originally produced. By increasing the income and processing of coffee beans harvested by surrounding small farmers, they have met the soaring market demand. However, the subsequent production of the "Flower Kui" has become different from the "original". Not only because the scale of harvesting and processing has been expanded, but also because coffee beans are agricultural products, their taste will be affected by various factors such as the annual climate and environment. Therefore, since 2018, the taste of "Huakui" from the same origin and the same processing plant has been somewhat different from the original.
But at that time, Huakui's reputation was already at its peak in China. In order to prevent fans from not buying it, the domestic raw bean trading company formulated a suffix similar to Apple for Huakui. For example, Hua Kui "2.0","3.0","4.0"... Calculated from 2017 onwards. The purpose is to distinguish it from the original flower queen, and at the same time to better let consumers know which year they purchased the flower queen produced. Then again, since Huakui is a trade name, what kind of coffee is it? Its species is native. The so-called native species can be roughly understood as a mixed coffee variety produced in Ethiopia, that is, beans mixed from a lot of varieties. Because most of Ethiopia's coffee comes from the wild, or coffee farmers grow it in their backyards, when the coffee is ripe, coffee farmers will harvest the ripe coffee grown in their backyards and scattered in the mountains and forests, and then hand it over to the processing plant or cooperative for unified processing and sales. However, because there will be no process to screen the varieties of these beans during this period, they cannot be screened out. Therefore, when sold, these coffees mixed with countless varieties will be called "native species".
To sum up, we can know that Guixia is a variety name, and Huakui is a trade name. They are completely different in terms of variety and taste. Then why is there the misunderstanding that the flower chief is rose summer or a rose summer variant?
Why is Hua Kui mistaken for Guixia? There are two reasons. The first one is the erroneous interpretation of the name mentioned in Qianjie earlier. The name Guixia is transliterated from Geisha, which was a translation obtained only after Guixia was later introduced to the inland. Before that, Geisha had been introduced to my country's treasure island of Taiwan, where everyone used Geisha's literal translation-"geisha" to call him. Geisha is the name of an entertainment profession in Japan, and Kakui is also the name of a similar entertainment profession there. Although the professional nature of the two is somewhat different, because they are relatively close, this leads to people's understanding of Huakui Coffee and Guixia Coffee becoming a variant or the same variety of Guixia Coffee.
Another reason comes from the boiling competition that made the flower queen famous! Because Hua Kui defeated a group of Guixia in the competition, there were many remarks at that time that "Hua Kui is better than Guixia" and "Hua Kui is better than Guixia". Then combined with the erroneous interpretation of the name above, it gradually promoted the formation and spread of misunderstandings. But in fact, there is not much correlation between the two. Both Huaquai and Guixia in Qianjie Doudan are the latest growing seasons. If you have a friend who has tried them, you should know that the characteristics between the two are completely different. Then, Qianjie will use the same parameters to brew and compare their respective characteristics. The parameters are as follows: amount of powder used: 15g Grinding degree: 75%~80% sieving rate of No. 20 sieve, boiling water temperature: 92°C, powder-to-water ratio: 1:15 Extraction time: 2 minutes, Qianjie Essei Huakui: In the new season, Qianjie Essei Huakui has a very strong fruit tonality. We can clearly taste fruit aromas such as guava, jackfruit, citrus, apricot peaches, and preserved fruit, with a light floral aroma, and black tea. The tail rhyme. The overall taste is round, sweet and sour, and has a long finish.
Front Street Panama Poquet Rose Summer: Rose Summer's performance is more balanced, whether it is taste or aroma. In terms of flavor, we can clearly taste the white flower fragrance, soft citrus and berry tones, and the ending rhyme is black tea. The overall taste is clean and soft, with balanced taste, like drinking a cup of fragrant flower and fruit tea.
So to sum up, everyone can know what is the difference between Huakui and Guixia, and why Huakui is not Guixia!
