The western and southern parts of Yunnan Province are located between 15 degrees north latitude and the Tropic of Cancer, and most areas are between 1,000 and 2,000 meters above sea level. Due to the unique natural conditions, Yunnan has more than 98% of the coffee planting area in China and has become an important coffee raw material supply base in Asia. Xiong Xiangjin said that Starbucks, Nestl é, McDonnell and other world coffee giants have opened raw material bases in Yunnan, coupled with the current domestic market coffee demand is growing at an annual rate of 25%, Yunnan coffee supply will be further expanded.

Xiong Xiangjin said that Yunnan is playing an increasingly prominent role as China's main channel connecting Southeast Asia and South Asia, and the province is also actively building a mature international transportation network. Yunnan may become the third largest coffee raw material distribution center in the world after Hamburg in Germany and New York in the United States.

This point is also highly valued by Yunnan government departments. This year, the Yunnan provincial government made plans to increase the development of Yunnan coffee industry, and put forward the goal of planting more than 1 million mu of small-grain coffee in Yunnan by 2015.
