Thanks to the increase in world coffee consumption, the National Council for Agricultural Export Development of Rwanda announced an increase in the purchase price of coffee from 143 rupees per kilogram to 200 rupees per kilogram, the first increase in coffee purchase prices in the past four months. Since 2013, the purchase price of Lu Coffee has fallen due to the bumper harvest of coffee in countries such as Brazil. Coffee is Lu's main export product, accounting for 12-17 percent of the total exports. The national coffee planting area is 42000 hectares, and more than 400000 farmers depend on coffee cultivation for a living. This year, the total output of coffee is expected to reach 25000 tons. The government is actively helping farmers to improve the quality of coffee and win more benefits by virtue of good quality.
