According to reports, the competition was jointly organized by the Pu'er Coffee Industry Development Office and the Pu'er Coffee Association, and 10 professional coffee cup testers (Q-grader) from the United States, South Korea, the mainland and Taiwan evaluated 72 raw coffee beans fairly and fairly.

In the evaluation competition, the judges first select the samples submitted. Only those who meet the American Fine Coffee Association (SCAA) standard for fine raw beans can enter the baking process of raw bean samples, and each participating bean is strictly graded. After three days of fierce competition, one champion, one runner-up and one second runner-up were selected, and 15 raw beans won the Excellence Award. The 18 shortlisted raw beans all scored more than 80 points, and won the Q-Grader certificate directly issued by the headquarters of the American Fine Coffee Association (SCAA).

Peng Yuanguo, member of the standing Committee of the Pu'er Municipal CPC Committee and vice mayor, said that the purpose of holding the Pu'er Coffee Raw Bean Competition is to further find out the family background, let the vast number of coffee growers know what the advantages and disadvantages of their coffee are, and constantly improve the quality of coffee in the city under the guidance of experts, and expand and strengthen the Pu'er coffee industry.
