"For every 350 ml cup of medium freshly ground coffee consumed, 20 grams of coffee grounds are discarded. If one person drinks one medium cup of coffee a week, a thousand people will produce about one meal of coffee grounds a year! Disposing, landfilling or incinerating coffee grounds along with other waste increases the cost of waste disposal and contributes to the planet's greenhouse effect. The staff of Xingeng Workshop said that coffee grounds are also very rich in nutrients and can be called natural organic fertilizer. For this reason, Xingeng Workshop spent one year exploring coffee residue recycling, hoping to reduce urban waste.

At Tangqiao Social Organization Service Center, staff are telling residents how to grow mushrooms at home. The surface of the "household edible mushroom package" is kraft paper packaging, and white mycelium is faintly visible inside. "This powder is the medium for mushrooms. As long as moderate water spray every day, mushrooms will be produced in about a week. Each bag can be harvested 2-3 times, and about one catty of oyster mushrooms can be harvested. The CEO of Xingeng Workshop Zhu Bingzhao introduced.

Coffee chain enterprises provide raw materials free of charge, communities in each street support recycling, Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences mushroom research institute experts elaborate experiments, the future is expected to select Hericium erinaceus, mushroom and other market high-priced mushroom species for cultivation. "Coffee Mushroom" is not only a green environmental protection project, but also a creative entrepreneurship project. As a non-governmental public welfare organization dedicated to poverty alleviation, this activity not only "turning waste into treasure", but also provides re-employment opportunities for some disabled people and low-income people in society. During the Spring Festival, the green recycling car of Xingeng Workshop also distributes mushroom bags in Tangqiao Street communities, and explains environmental protection and diet knowledge to residents.
