During the Spring Festival in 2009, Alipay designer White Raven finally couldn't sit still. As an IT insider, White Raven has many friends in the circle, and everyone is used to coming to his house for a drink on weekends, but cleaning is too troublesome. After several consultations, the white crow decided to open a cafe in Hangzhou as everyone's public living room.
For the establishment of the coffee shop, the white crow chose to raise funds, using a joint-stock system, 10,000 yuan per share, a total of 100 shares. When the raven and its founders sent out the message, they quickly received a response from all parties, raised all the money in a few days, and even many people wanted to participate, but there was no share balance.
It is understood that at that time, Beta Coffee had a total of 28 shareholders and was engaged in 15 different occupations, all senior executives of major Internet and telecommunications companies, from 9 different cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou.
With the money, the raven began to solicit sponsorship on its blog. Logo and web addresses can be printed on televisions, game consoles, notebooks, wiring boards, coffee cups and even napkins in cafes.
There was a real response to these sponsorship activities. Many websites, including Sina and Sohu, sponsored dolls, and even sold the naming rights of the two conference rooms upstairs.
It has been planned since March, and by mid-May, the crows will be able to sit in their own cafe and drink their first cup of coffee. It is reported that on the official opening day, the Beta Cafe was almost packed with more than 300 people, most of whom fully tracked the birth of the cafe through various channels on the Internet.
But opening a coffee shop is not easy. Shortly after opening, in the face of problems such as performance and customer feedback, shareholders decided to implement the manager rotation system. But a year after the implementation of the rotation system, these IT elites really did not have the time and energy to run a coffee shop, and finally hired professional managers to take over. The technical job of site selection
In the Beta Cafe in Hangzhou, IT people can get a discount on consumption here, and IT bosses often come to visit. In August 2010, after the success in Hangzhou, Beta Coffee began to plan to set up a Beijing branch, but the location became a problem.
In Hangzhou, Beta Coffee, located at 41 Tongpu Road, is close to Alibaba and has a large number of IT elite customers in e-commerce.
For the new store in Beijing, after months of site selection, Bai Raven and others finally took a fancy to the dilapidated third pole building in Zhongguancun at the end of 2010 and paid the rent before Innovation works and Tencent moved to Beijing.
