The Barista Camp starts camp in Shanghai in August!
Barista training Camp (The Barista Camp) returns to Shanghai
26-28 August 2014)
The Barista Camp barista training camp is taught by two important mentors, Fritz Storm and Kentaro Maruyama. The main purpose is to enable students to learn not only the technology of brewing coffee, but also information from coffee planting, screening, processing methods, roasting techniques, blending methods, tasting methods and other information, so that students are not limited to the current operational horizons, but also have a new experience of the whole coffee world. The two tutors will also train students on how to prepare for the competition and the mental state they should have during the competition. Last year, students had the opportunity to taste more than 30 kinds of coffee beans from different countries.
Since its inception in 2009, The Barista Camp has successfully held 8 sessions in Japan, Colombia, Italy, Shanghai, China and other places. Through this training camp, students have greatly improved their performance in local barista competitions and even the World barista Competition (WBC). For example: Mexico Fabrizio Seed (WBC 2012 runner-up, Japan Miki Suzuki (2 consecutive WBC 2011 and 2012 finalists), Hong Kong Zhao Jiabao (HKBC2013 and 2014 champion) China Zhang Yinzhe (CBC2014 champion), China Tu Yuehua Kitto (CBC2014 runner-up).
In addition, each barista training camp will invite star instructors to lecture on the coffee culture of their own country and further broaden the horizons of the students. Star mentors in previous training camps in different countries include American champion Pete Licata (WBC 2013 champion), Salvadoran champion Alejandro Mendez (WBC 2011 champion), Mexican champion Fabrizio Seed (second in WBC 2012) and Irish champion Colin Harmon (third in WBC 2012).
Zhang Yinzhe, the runner-up Tu Yuehua, and Zhu Jingui, the third runner-up in China's first Cup Test Competition, who won the WBC China Division Finals just ended this year, were all campers of the last barista training camp.
