12-Key Computer Keypad Coffee Cup Set by Shanghai E Square

If you’ve ever wanted your morning coffee ritual to feel just a little more like your daily work setup, a new design from Shanghai offers a playful solution. Imagine sipping from twelve individual coffee cups, each styled like a key on your computer’s numeric keypad—functional form meets functional beverage.

The design comes from Shanghai-based E Square Design Studio and features twelve small coffee cups arranged on a single wooden tray. Each cup is shaped like a number key from a standard computer keyboard, making a full 0–9 set plus additional function-style keys. It’s a total of twelve cups in a neat, keyed layout.

What Is the Computer Keypad Coffee Cup Set?

The set consists of twelve miniature coffee cups mounted on a shared wooden tray. Every cup mimics the shape and layout of a number key found on a typical computer or laptop keyboard. This includes the digits 0 through 9, plus extra keys to fill out the keypad format. The entire arrangement mimics a compact computer input device—but for coffee.

Who Designed the Set and Where?

The coffee cup set was created by E Square Design Studio, a Shanghai-based design outfit known for merging everyday objects with clever aesthetics. Their work often explores how function translates into form—especially in home and office environments. This particular piece blends the familiar layout of a computer keypad with the ritual of drinking coffee.

How Is the Set Constructed?

The twelve coffee cups are mounted onto a single wooden tray, creating a unified piece. Each cup is individually shaped like a number key from a computer keyboard. The specific keys represented include 0–9 and additional keypad symbols, though the exact layout mirrors a typical 12-key input pad. The materials used include wood for the tray and presumably ceramic or similar material for the cups, though the exact cup material is not specified in the source.

Why Would Someone Want This Design?

Beyond its visual appeal, the keypad coffee cup set plays into the growing trend of fusing productivity tools with lifestyle products. For coffee drinkers who spend much of their day at a computer, this set offers a whimsical yet practical aesthetic that ties the digital workspace to the analog coffee break. It also serves as a conversation piece or desk accessory with a minimalist, functional design language.

What Does the Design Convey?

The design metaphorically connects the routine of computer use with the routine of coffee drinking. By shaping coffee cups like number keys, the set draws a parallel between inputting data and ‘inputting’ energy through caffeine. The neat, ordered layout of the tray reinforces a sense of routine, organization, and control—traits often associated with both computing and the morning coffee ritual.
