Early morning Beijing time on the 16th, Reuters reported on Thursday that Starbucks, the world's largest coffee chain (59.69,0.87, 1.48%), is negotiating with a local partner to introduce its brand to Italy, which is famous for its coffee culture. The latter is one of the few countries in the world that does not have Starbucks.

The Italian Corriere della Sera reported that Starbucks is in talks with Italian retail giant Percassi and is expected to reach an agreement before Christmas. Corey duBrowa, a spokesman for Starbucks, responded: "it's just rumors and speculation and we don't comment on it."

Percassi Group, headquartered in Bergamo, near Milan, owns cosmetics chain Kiko, which has more than 700 stores in Europe and the United States. In addition, the company is also the Italian agent of Victoria's Secret, a famous American lingerie brand. (feather and arrow)
