Last Updated: 2024/11/08, Starbucks plans to start installing vending machines in large offices in Europe this summer so that employees can buy drinks such as cappuccinos, espresso and hot chocolate nearby, the United Daily News reported. It is reported that Starbucks has partnered with Swiss vending machine maker Selecta Group to install corner coffee (Corner) in Switzerland six months ago.

Starbucks (sbux, fortune 500) plans to roll out vending machines in its large european offices this summer, allowing employees to shop nearby for drinks such as cappuccino, espresso and hot chocolate, the united daily reported.

Starbucks has reportedly teamed up with Swiss vending machine operator Selecta Group to start installing vending machines called Corner Cafe in Switzerland six months ago and has 17 in its Swiss offices. A vending machine sells an average of 100 drinks a day.

Starbucks plans to expand the vending machines to Germany, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland and Austria. Matt Sikes, Starbucks 'head of business development for Europe, said that while Starbucks has few cafes in these markets, the brand's visibility in these regions is high, adding that Starbucks aims to have thousands of vending machines in Europe within a few years.

Under Starbucks arrangements, Selecta will purchase cups, coffee and other products from Starbucks and fresh milk from local suppliers. Selecta will also handle marketing, machine installation and maintenance, and pay Starbucks licensing fees. Sykes declined to disclose the financial goals of the Corner Coffee project, saying only that it was important for Starbucks to meet its goal of "increasing the frequency with which people buy beverages." Office buildings in Europe could be an attractive market for coffee makers looking for new sources of revenue.
