Drinking coffee can boost your spirits, and many people can't put it down with a cup of coffee every day, but many people don't know that once coffee beans get moldy, ochratoxin will breed, because the color of mildew spots is as difficult to detect as coffee color. if you drink it, it may cause kidney failure, cancer of the urinary system, and even miscarriage of pregnant women. Now Taiwan's Department of Health plans to draw up regulatory standards. In the future, coffee products on the Taiwan market will have to be removed from the shelves as long as they are found to exceed 5PPB ochratoxin.

According to data from Taiwan's Department of Health, ochratoxin is a secondary metabolite produced by molds, which is similar to aflatoxin and is a natural mycotoxin. In addition, there are three kinds of ochratoxin A, B and C, among which ochratoxin A has the strongest toxicity and fast reproduction. Taiwan's hot and humid environment is the good place for ochratoxin to grow.

Lin Jie-Liang, director of the clinical toxicology department at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Linkou, Taiwan, said that ochratoxin is the same color as coffee beans. Accidental ingestion of ochratoxin can cause chronic kidney failure, fear of developing cancer in the urinary system, and increase the risk of miscarriage in pregnant women. He also believes that the current limit set by the Department of Health for rice, wheat and coffee is too lenient, and that the applicable program should be expanded to include all grains, including Chinese herbal medicines.
