Vault, a cafe in Wali, North Dakota, has been unguarded since it opened in October 2013, relying on customers' willingness to pay, odditycentral reported on June 30.
It is reported that the cafe serves coffee, soda and other drinks and some refreshments. The shop is unguarded, but it is equipped with a card swiping machine and a coin box, so customers can swipe their cards or coin themselves after self-help eating. Such a mode of operation attracts a lot of customers. "the environment here is very good," said one regular customer. "customers can stay as long as they want, and they will show a movie every Saturday, and you can see a movie for as little as $3."
Store owner David Blake and his wife Kimberly are not worried that customers will eat and drink for free. They trust customers completely. Since the opening, there has not been any phenomenon of order evasion, and even when reconciling accounts, customers have been found to have paid 15% more.
The shopkeeper said that the success of the cafe was related to the small population of Wali, and he could not guarantee that it would be as successful in other cities.
