The competition in Kunming cafes is fierce, and the war is imminent, but Yunnan coffee has no chance to participate in the war.

There are more and more coffee shops in Kunming, although the number is far less than that of traditional teahouses, the style of coffee shops is much better than that of teahouses, and some chain coffee shop brands are also gradually appearing in prosperous areas. if you add the coffee shops of local brands in Kunming, according to incomplete statistics, there are nearly 200 large and small coffee shops in the city, and they are still growing rapidly.

The most rapid expansion is Starbucks, the number one brand in the global coffee chain. Starbucks only opened its first store in Kunming in May 2011, but five years later, there are 20 Starbucks in Kunming.

Speaking of the first well-known coffee chain brand to enter Kunming, it is actually Shangdao Coffee from Taiwan. In 2000, Shangdao Coffee entered Kunming. The first store opened in Bailian Parkson Building, and the second store was in Chuncheng Road Moore Building. But more than 10 years later, Shangdao Coffee still has only three stores in Kunming, and the first two stores have been closed.

Around the world, Costa,Costa, a British espresso brand that can challenge Starbucks, has 334 stores in mainland China, but it has not yet entered Kunming, where it is said that the first Costa may appear this year. It is located in a newly opened commercial center in Nancheng District.

Although Costa is a global rival to Starbucks, the second-largest coffee shop brand in mainland China is Pacific Coffee. Pacific Coffee was founded in Hong Kong by American couple Tom Neir and was acquired by China Resources in 2010. Pacific Coffee now has more than 450 stores in mainland China, surpassing Costa to rank second. However, Pacific Coffee has not entered Kunming so far.

Also coveting the status of Starbucks is McDonald's McCoffee, which runs with McDonald's, but not all McDonald's have McCoffee. At present, there are five McCafe shops in Kunming.

ManCoffee, a Korean coffee chain founded by Koreans in Beijing, is expanding faster than established coffee shops in Europe and the United States. It only opened its first store in Beijing in 2011, but there are already five coffee shops in Kunming. Other authentic Korean coffee chains, such as Hollys Coffee, "Coffee with you" and "Zoo Coffee", have also entered mainland China in recent years and have developed rapidly. At present, Coffee has four stores with you in Kunming, but Hollys Coffee and Zoo Coffee have not yet entered Kunming.

When it comes to coffee shops, we have to mention the famous Kopi Luwak, although it has been criticized, but in the eyes of coffee lovers, the status of Kopi Luwak is difficult to replace. At present, there are two cat shit coffee shops in Kunming.

Speaking of the national well-known coffee chain brands, Mingdian Coffee from Taiwan and Real Pot Coffee from Japan are also quite famous, but Mingdian Coffee currently has only one shop in Kunming. Real Pot Coffee also opened its first store in Kunming 10 years ago, but later withdrew from Kunming.

Although the coffee market in Kunming is expanding rapidly, and more and more local and foreign coffee shops are competing in the market, it is a pity that Yunnan, as a major province of coffee raw materials in China, although it has first-class coffee beans, it can only be a raw material supplier to Starbucks and Costa. In the terminal consumer market, Yunnan coffee has always been obscure.
