According to Nanning Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Nanning Bonded Logistics Center returned a batch of instant coffee imported from Malaysia this month. This is also the first time that Nanning Bonded Logistics Center has returned unqualified imported coffee products.

It is understood that this batch of unqualified instant coffee from Malaysia is divided into two varieties: original flavor and mixed nut flavor, totaling 244 boxes of 3.12 tons, worth US $11,600. After inspection, the total colony count of original coffee was 12000CFU/g and the mold count was 290CFU/g, which far exceeded the limit requirements of GB7101 -2003 Sanitary Standard for Solid Beverage for total colony count ≤1000CFU/g and mold ≤50CFU/g; the total colony count of mixed nut flavor coffee was 26000CFU/g, which was 26 times higher than the limit index of this standard. Total bacterial count is used to determine the degree of bacterial contamination of food, mold is one of the important microbial indicators reflecting the freshness and hygiene of food. If the microorganism of the food seriously exceeds the standard, it means that the hygiene condition does not meet the basic hygiene requirements, which will destroy the nutritional components of the food, accelerate the spoilage of the food, and make the food lose its edible value.

According to the relevant provisions of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China and the Regulations for the Implementation of the Commodity Inspection Law of the People's Republic of China, the inspection and quarantine department judged that the quality of this batch of coffee was unqualified, and issued the Notice of Inspection and Quarantine Treatment, which was returned according to law after confirmation by the owner.

At present, this batch of unqualified coffee has been returned from Nanning Bonded Logistics Center. Before loading, inspection and quarantine personnel shall count the quantity on site and verify the relevant information of goods. After verification, they shall supervise the whole process of loading and sealing of goods until they exit the bonded area. In order to ensure that this batch of goods effectively exit the country, the inspection and quarantine department will conduct real-time supervision on their return and ensure that the follow-up supervision is fully in place.
