The first drone cafe in the world is only open for three days in the Netherlands.
Students at Einhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands have launched what is known as the world's first drone cafe, all run by drones, from ordering coffee to serving it to the table, according to Taiwanese media.
To celebrate the school's 60th anniversary, 20 students at Eindhoven University of Science and Technology specially designed indoor drones to run the world's first drone cafe, Taiwan's Central News Agency reported on April 22. However, because it is only experimental in nature, the cafe will only be open for three days from this weekend.
Dutch Times quoted researcher Haggis as saying that the purpose of the plan is to let the outside world understand the widespread use of drones, but she does not think drones can replace waiters.
In the past, drones were mostly used outdoors, Haggis told the Dutch Public Television Radio Channel. The plan is to show that drones can be of great help to human daily life, even indoors, and the drone cafe is designed to prove this.
To this end, students designed the new UAV, called Blue Jay, to adapt to indoor environments with limited space. Unlike ordinary drones that use GPS for navigation, Blue Jay relies on light, detects light movement through built-in cameras, and detects the movement paths of other drones to avoid collisions.
The drone can also accept orders from guests, exchange messages with other drones, and deliver hot coffee to the customer's table.
