On Thursday, ICE Coffee C closed at a 10-month low; on Friday, Arabica futures fell 2% to $1.319.

The March report of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) reproduced by the Chongqing Coffee Trading Center pointed out that in coffee producing areas such as Uganda, Indonesia, Honduras, India and Peru, shipments increased significantly in the first few months of 2016, which may be one of the reasons for the price drop.

At the same time, the inventory of Arabica in consuming countries continues to grow. Figures released last week by the Coffee and Raw Bean Association showed that US stocks of raw coffee beans rose to their highest level since 2001 in March. Inventories in Europe and Japan are the same, according to data released earlier by Ihumm Smith.

Robusta prices remain relatively stable, mainly due to the low supply of Robusta in Brazil after the drought. However, the stability of prices has led to an increase in shipments of Robusta in Vietnam, which has more or less made up for the shortfall in Brazilian supply.

The price of the RMB against the US dollar has not fluctuated significantly, although the price has fallen, international market sentiment remains stable. However, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) predicts that global Robusta and Arabica prices may continue to fall.
