It is generally believed that coffee is a more irritating drink. Drinking too much will not only lead to palpitations, but also osteoporosis in old age. Not drinking coffee may seem like a choice for health advocates, but is that really the case?
According to the food health website Smart Cooky, those who drink coffee live longer than those who don't drink coffee.
Researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine (Standford University School of Medicine) published a study in the journal Nature Medicine to explore the relationship between longevity, systemic inflammation, cardiovascular disease and coffee intake. Studies have found that chronic inflammation in the elderly may lead to cardiovascular disease and increase the risk of death. However, in study participants who regularly drank caffeinated drinks, the body was found to be resistant to the inflammatory response.

The elderly suffer from diseases caused by physical inflammation
Using data from a study that began 10 years ago, the researchers gathered more than 100 participants and divided them into two groups of adult controls aged 20 to 30 and over 60 years old. Blood samples, questionnaires, medical records and family disease history were collected each year. The final study showed that there was a close relationship between basic inflammation and concomitant chronic diseases associated with aging.
How does inflammation occur in the body?
The new study compares blood samples from the young and the elderly to see which genes are more active in the elderly. Finally, they targeted two more active gene families, which are associated with the production of interleukin-1 β, an inflammatory factor.
What about the relationship between the active high gene family and the human body? The researchers selected two groups from the elderly: one was the high activity group of inflammatory genes, and the other was the low activity group of inflammatory genes. After studying the subjects' personal medical history, it was found that 9 of the 12 subjects with high inflammatory gene group had hypertension, while only 1 of the 11 subjects with low inflammatory gene group had hypertension. Francois Haddad, a co-researcher and clinical associate professor of cardiovascular disease, found that compared with the group with low activity of inflammatory gene group, the group with high activity of inflammatory gene group was more likely to develop arteriosclerosis and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
It was further found that in the subjects with high gene activity, the metabolism of nucleic acids or the decomposition of nucleic acid metabolites in their blood vessels significantly stimulated the activity of the two gene families and increased the concentration of IL-1 β, a proinflammatory factor in their bodies. It has also been verified in animal and mouse experiments that this kind of inflammatory reaction can lead to symptoms such as high blood pressure.
How caffeine suppresses inflammation
And what does caffeine have to do with these effects? The evidence also suggests that the body's metabolites after caffeine intake may inhibit these cyclic nucleic acid metabolites. This may be one of the reasons why coffee drinkers can live longer than those who don't drink coffee at all. David Furman, lead researcher at Standford, said: "more than 90 per cent of non-communicable aging diseases are related to chronic inflammation. More than 1000 studies have shown that slow inflammation can lead to cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Alzheimer's disease, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis and even depression. "
The news should be a small surprise for the coffee hobby. Next time you order a cup of coffee in a cafe, apart from enjoying the aroma of coffee and a leisurely environment, what is the effect of relying on caffeine to refresh you? Don't forget, it may also have the advantage of preventing chronic diseases and making people live longer.
