Looking forward to it for a long time, I want to live an unfettered life on the island, arrange my preferred walking route, rest for a cup of iced coffee when I am tired, accumulate energy and then continue to explore the old city where the old and the new meet leisurely. Leaving the ferry, passing the crowded surname bridge without stopping, slowly pacing to feel the smell of the city, crossing the road around the corner, I met the lovely red mailbox and the strong aroma of coffee.

Looking up, the sign made up of several boards was painted with the words "shop shit card". It was so funny and humorous that people forgot to take a closer look at what the shop was selling, so they drilled into it. In retrospect, there was a small sign on the left that read "Kopikita Espresso". The barista behind the bar, staring carefully at the Italian coffee machine in front of him, said hello to me and went on about his own business.

Turn your attention to the right side of the old house, on the side of the bare brick wall, several rows of wooden shelves are filled with "shit cards". When you get closer, you can't leave it. Unlike the postcards seen in the tourist area, the photos printed on the cards are like some photographer who sealed the emotion of his life on the ground. Looking up at the barista, he smiled and said, "I shot and made it myself."

啜饮一杯资深咖啡师做出来的咖啡,价钱平实香醇温润,这是很多人心中的良心小咖啡馆。

Sipping a cup of coffee made by an experienced barista at a flat price is a small coffee shop of conscience in the hearts of many people.

Approach the bar to order a cup of coffee, an one-person cafe with only two small tables, espresso brewed with House Blend selected coffee beans, priced from four ringgit to nine ringgit, half the price of a chain cafe, but with a texture that surpasses that of many well-known cafes. It was eight o'clock in the morning, and some office workers nearby stopped to order a cup of coffee from the barista directly through the open window of the cafe.

Dickie is the owner of this special shop. He brought the brewed coffee and sat on the side of the wooden chair to tease the chubby orange cat. We had a long chat. In his early years, Dickie worked in an Italian international cafe chain that first set foot in the island city, with the experience of a barista and mentor, as well as a private hostel and a supervisor of other cafes.

The coffee clerk's time was so beautiful that he decided to open an one-person coffee shop. Ten years ago, he decided to sell take-away coffee in a small space of 9 feet by 15 feet in Gat Lebuh Chulia. Instead of choosing a good location in a large area of passenger traffic, he wants to live the life he likes.

路过的人点一杯冰饮再买一张明信片,投递到门外的大邮筒,Dickie就会帮客人把明信片寄出。这样的小情小趣,也是旅行的美好之一。

Passers-by order an ice drink and buy a postcard, deliver it to the mailbox outside the door, and Dickie will mail the postcard for the guest. Such a little love and fun is also one of the beauties of travel.

At 07:30 in the morning, he opened the door and opened the large log window on the side of the bar to make coffee. The passers-by could not help but stop when they smelled the coffee, ordered a cup of hot coffee directly outside, sat down in the only place outside, sipped the rich coffee and chatted with Dickie. After a while, a car was gently parked by the side of the road, and the driver called out loudly through the window: "A cup of ESPRESSO to take out!" ……

"this is the concept of a coffee shop that I want to do. Without too many seats, guests can take away coffee at will, and many cafes abroad operate in the same way." Some European guests think that the prices of other cafes are too high, so they come to Penang Island for half a month and report almost every day, saying that the price of coffee is reasonable and of high quality. There are also foreigners living on Penang Island who walk half of the city to drink his coffee.

一排排的在地风景文化明信片,照片都是Dickie这些年走遍小岛拍摄的。

Rows of local landscape and cultural postcards, photos taken by Dickie traveling all over the island over the years.

The aroma of coffee filled the space and occupied two-thirds of the old house. Most of the postcards were his works. With a professional background in design, photography and design are also an important part of his life. Every picture in a postcard is a deep pulse taken by him when he has traveled through the old city for more than a decade.

While chatting, a guest came to order some coffee from time to time. He went back to the bar for a while and asked him, "the business hours are so long, shouldn't there be one or two days off a week?" Without raising his brow, he slowly replied, "I've been making coffee seven days a week. Anyway, I'm also idle!" Well, every day, watching the scenery passing by, making the coffee that guests like to drink, and talking to people from all corners of the world, who says it's not beautiful?
