One of the popular "strangers" cafes was created by three freshmen, Chen Yuwei, Wang Yuwei and Cai Weilun, because their works were appreciated by mushroom design and were invited to be exhibited in physical stores to complete the first step of life exhibition. Chen says that the name "strangeness" means that people who come to the store can find a "tacit understanding" after a break, and she also shares that in the process of building a coffee shop, she has realized that "the most important thing is what kind of feeling you want to bring to the customer."

She points out that building a coffee shop sounds dreamy, but in fact, you have to do it yourself, brick by brick. From being ignorant of water and electricity, the three people can easily climb the A ladder, hammer nails and decorate themselves, although they were once injured in the process. But everyone can't hide their joy when they see the results. She said that the most difficult thing in design is to constantly choose and choose. Good fabrics are too expensive and cheap materials are not up to ideal. In the process, constant discussion and running-in with teammates is the most valuable experience.

In addition to the painstaking design, the team also had to buy materials out of their own pockets. the original budget was controlled at 80, 000 yuan, but eventually overspent to 110000 yuan. the family did not understand for a time, but fortunately the results were good. The space design based on the color of the earth, with message walls, sofa areas and warm lights, has become a warm and relaxing space. The school's physical store has been in operation for only a week, with more than 100 groups of guests, with an average of at least 50 people a day. Some people even come from other counties and cities.

Wang Yaobang, nicknamed "Lattice teacher", said frankly that he was strict with his students. When it comes to the philosophy of design, he believes that many design students may not have a chance to present their works to the society until graduation, which leads to a social collision before they begin to make adjustments. So he encourages students to try practice when they are in school. Because "real design needs to accept the direct opinions of the outside world."

He pointed out that drinking coffee makes people feel, what kind of space will make people want to stay, these are not books can teach students, so he started from "what is coffee?" , "how to make coffee?" To "how to distinguish the style of a store", lead students to explore, encourage students to study in an experimental way, use the five senses to find their own preferences, not as long as the iron pillar represents the industrial style, the level of design should be deeper and wider.

He believes that the coffee shop represents not only a shop, but the relationship between people and the world, but also a display of design from scratch. "try" is the most important essence of this course. He points out that many teachers do not dare to let go, thinking that students cannot do it, but in fact, they should "make students believe that they can do something big" and abandon safe paper exercises. On the contrary, they can go further. He told students, "you don't have to be a great designer, but at least you have to know how to live your life."

The "Stranger rest" Cafe will appear in flash mode on the third floor of the Mushroom Design in Datong District, Taipei, from August 2 to 6, serving meals such as sweet soup and milk tea.
