Herb juice and the persistence of Coffee: no Sugar

A few days ago, I went to the traditional Chinese medicine store and wanted to buy a bag of Herb juice tea bags to cook for the guests who often work overtime in the coffee shop.
Interestingly, this is the first time I've cooked Herb juice, and I'm not familiar with the process.
"Boss, I'd like to ask, how would you suggest me to cook this Herb juice? Did you say the ratio of water to Herb juice? " I watched carefully and focused on helping my boss who was packing.

"Hmm?" I answered with a little doubt.
"I would advise you not to add sugar. It won't taste good if you add too much sugar." His eyes became more intense.
"but won't it be too bitter if you don't add sugar?" The Herb juice I remember is a little bitter.
"this is fresh licorice. When cooking, there will be a natural sweet smell of hay. Basically, don't add any more sugar." While encapsulating my Herb juice, he looked at me, and there seemed to be a trace of strong pressure reflecting me in his eyes.
"do I need to add anything else?"
"No, if you drink the original, there will be no burden on the body." Boss, finally smiled.
"OK, I see."
Before leaving, "remember, don't add sugar, you can't drink it if you add it." His eyes looked directly at mine.
