Most office workers like to drink coffee to boost their spirits, but a recent survey found that the benefits of coffee are not only that, but also can prolong life!

The European College of Cardiology (European Society of Cardiology, ESC), which tracked nearly 20, 000 people aged 25 to 60 for 10 years, found that people who drank at least four cups of coffee a day had a 64 percent lower risk of death than those who drank no or no coffee, and those over the age of 45 had a 30 percent lower risk of death if they had the habit of drinking two cups of coffee a day, according to the Daily Mail.

The caffeine contained in coffee is a central nervous stimulant, which can exhilarate mood, think quickly and eliminate drowsiness, and contains a variety of bioactive compounds, flavonoids and phenols, which can prevent cardiovascular disease and some cancers. It also has sedative and analgesic effects on migraines, but drinking too much can cause restlessness, anxiety, irritability, palpitations, nausea and other uncomfortable phenomena.

The cardiologist in charge of the study believes that the study can only be regarded as a comprehensive statistics and cannot directly assert the "direct relationship between coffee drinking death and risk reduction." On the other hand, the Ministry of Health and Welfare of China recommends that the daily caffeine intake per person should be no more than 300 milligrams, and that excessive intake may lead to countereffect.
