What is Jensen Manor in the Walken area of Panama?
In 2004, the Peterson family from Panama first presented the rose variety to everyone. Since then, the international community has been crazy about rose, calling it the champagne of coffee. At the 2013 Panama Coffee Awards presented by the Panama Fine Coffee Association, a new finalist appeared-Carl Jensen's Jensen Manor Rosedale, Carl Jensen's Jensen Manor Geisha variety! Also known as the "Champagne of Coffee", it has a full jasmine aroma and delicate berry flavor, clean taste, honey, lychee flavor.
In recent years Volcan coffee has gradually emerged in the boutique market, and quite a number of estates have entered the Best of Panama competition and even won the championship. Volcan generally receives less annual rainfall than Borquette, and the geographical environment to the west of Baru volcano also makes coffee have stronger dry fruit flavor, sweetness and aroma than Borquette. In the early days of Volcán, most of the cash crops such as fruits and vegetables were grown in this area, and only a relatively small number of farmers cultivated coffee again. Among the pioneers of coffee cultivation in Volcán, the Hartmann family, which is quite famous in Panama, was the Jensen family.
Jensen Manor is located in Volcon on the west side of Baru volcano, with a total area of 1200 hectares. The soil of the farm is rich in nutrients. Because Geisha coffee must be planted in the high altitude area, about 1750 meters above sea level, the coffee garden is scattered among various farms, which cannot form a large-scale crop. The yield cannot be increased, and the price is naturally not high. Geisha, pronounced geisha in Japanese, is also known as geisha coffee; because the tree is taller than ordinary coffee trees, it was originally planted in a small area of the estate and used as a windbreak. Rosebud has a full sweet, clean palate with rich aromas that extend from berry and citrus to mango, papaya and peach. A very pronounced bergamot (bergamot)-like finish is also typical of its cup testing properties. So far, Guixia has been the champion of coffee varieties.
Carl Janson, the Swiss owner, came to Panama and fell in love with Volcan, a mountainous area similar to his native Switzerland, and bought the estate in 1940 after marrying his wife Margaret.
The unique advantageous environment makes the coffee planted here perfectly presented. The harvested fruits are mainly beef red coffee cherries with excellent quality. The farm is managed scientifically to improve the yield and quality. There is also a 7000-foot-long airstrip in the estate, which can take off and land small private planes.
Jason Guixia was rarely heard of in China because Jason Manor was mainly sold domestically and did not export. With its high altitude, rich volcanic soil, abundant rainfall and suitable temperatures, Jensen Estate has gradually become the second most productive estate in Panama in summer, and 50% of the estate is planted with coffee trees of the summer variety.
