Well, most of the guys here are over 55!

The new Starbucks staff, currently trained by younger baristas, will eventually be run entirely by 14 older people. Starbucks plans to hire 120 seniors in Mexico by the end of 2018.

The move is part of Mexico's "senior citizen employment program," which often struggles to maintain a quality of life; research by the RAND Corporation, a well-known US think tank, shows that Mexico's elderly population may be in a state of poverty again due to the lack of formal sources of income after retirement.

This is no small matter; reuters notes that 10% of mexico's population, or 12 million people, are senior citizens. UN studies also show that the aging population is a global phenomenon.

Gurion, CEO of Starbucks Mexico, said: "It's getting harder and harder to hire people over 40, but there's a real need to keep older people working." I'd be happy to help if I could."

Starbucks has partnered with the Mexican government's welfare program, the National Center for the Study of Older Persons, to alleviate the problem. Seniors employed by Starbucks can get medical insurance, guarantee two days off a week, and the time of each shift cannot exceed 6.5 hours.

Senior employee Aloya said,"They treat us with great respect and courtesy. I think we formed a very interesting connection and ultimately it was a very productive job for all of us."

This star dad,

The oldest star dad in the world.
