The health effects of coffee have been controversial for a long time. However, over the years, many studies have pointed out that drinking coffee has many benefits, such as refreshing, losing weight, fighting cancer, preventing dementia in the elderly, and so on.

Although these are trivial things for coffee lovers, we just love to drink and enjoy the flavor of coffee. But the research on coffee has never stopped, and a new study published in European Journal of Nutrition recently shows that drinking black coffee can prevent DNA from breaking down.

The so-called DNA strand breaks are mainly caused by oxidation, ultraviolet radiation and cell metabolism. However, as we get older, our ability to repair broken DNA will get worse and worse, which is one of the main reasons for human aging.

New research suggests that drinking coffee can slow down the aging process, which means that the cup of black we drink every day is killing ourselves. You see, the cow is not good!

To demonstrate the anti-aging effects of coffee, the researchers compared coffee with two groups of people: one group drank only water every day for a month, while the other group drank about 16 ounces of black coffee a day.

The results showed that the coffee drinkers had fewer DNA strand breaks within a month than those who drank only water. Because, the researchers believe that this proves that "coffee can protect the integrity of DNA."

In addition, this is not the first study to prove that coffee is good for DNA. Similar studies were conducted in 2011, 2015 and 2016, respectively.

In these studies, we also found an interesting detail, that is, the researchers used deep-roasted coffee beans. In fact, deep-roasted coffee beans have lost most of their compounds, and other studies have shown that lightly roasted beans actually have better antioxidant properties and contain more caffeine.

So, if you prefer shallow baked beans, you don't need to deliberately change the taste to deep baked beans for the anti-aging effect. No matter how much we say about the health effects of coffee, we always drink it in moderation and enjoy our favorite flavor. That's the best thing.
