Starbucks Coffee Japan opened its new store in Nakameguro, Tokyo, today, offering more fun and a premium feel than any other store, with its flagship coffee charging 1200 yen a cup.

Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK) reported that the new store is 4 floors high and was designed by famous Japanese designer Kengo Kuma. The interior is different from ordinary Starbucks stores, and the space inside the store is quite large, customers can clearly see the large storage containers and roasters in the center of the store.

This shop allows customers to choose their favorite coffee beans and extraction methods, and experience the fun of brewing in front of them. The main coffee uses whiskey barrels to brew coffee beans, a cup does not include consumption tax for 1200 yen (about NT$333), more expensive than a bowl of ramen in ordinary ramen shops. Most Starbucks stores sell coffee for more than 300 yen to 500 yen.

A 26-year-old Japanese office worker said that although the price is a little expensive, you can experience the fun of coffee theme parks.

Starbucks, which has more than 1400 stores in Japan, is the leader in specialty coffee chains, but large convenience store chains offer lower-priced freshly brewed coffee, increasing competition in the Japanese coffee market.

Therefore, Starbucks intends to enhance its brand image through this new store.
