Angola is one of the fourth largest coffee producers in the world. Between 1975 and 1976, the country produced 1 million bags of coffee a year, most of which were exported.

However, thirty years of civil war has caused great damage to the people and economy of this country. More than 4 million displaced people have been trying to return to their communities and have done a great deal of work to restore the livelihoods of rural residents, including coffee cultivation initiatives.

Angola is located in southern Africa, bordering Congo, Zambia, Namibia and the South Atlantic Ocean. Angola has an area of about 480000 square miles, about twice the size of Texas, and a population of about 10 million.

Angola's coffee industry was once dominated by large coffee plantations, which account for 70% of the country's coffee production each year. These large coffee farms include coffee processing facilities, which are mainly managed by Portuguese colonists.

Many of the large coffee plantations in Angola were nationalized after the country gained independence and new farm managers lacked the expertise of former managers.

At the same time, getting enough labour has become a problem, and there is a shortage of coffee inputs (such as fertilizers), resulting in a significant decline in coffee plant production.

In the 1990s, many state-owned coffee farms in Angola were privatized and many coffee plantations were subdivided. Unfortunately, the annual output is extremely unstable because of its political turmoil.
