When it comes to Italian national desserts, in addition to Tira Misu, which means "take me away", there is also an Affogato that claims to have a "suffocating delicacy" and a meaning to "drown me". The Origin of Avjiadu Affogato
The original Italian word Affogato is "drowned" or "breath taking/choking". How could an Italian who never liked to add other ingredients to espresso "make an exception" to add espresso to ice cream?
According to legend, the origin of Avjiaduo should be that someone accidentally put the newly extracted espresso on the ice cream, or some crazy barista's random experimental invention! Affogato is named because of the way ice cream (gelato) is submerged in espresso. Some people think that this drink is so delicious that it is suffocating and hence the name.
Strictly speaking, Avjiaduo is not a coffee product. It may be more appropriate to use "coffee dessert" to describe it.
How to make Afu Jiaduo?
Afujiaduo is mainly made by pouring espresso on ice cream, and hot coffee melts the ice cream to form a thick foam at the top. You can also add hot and cold tastes such as cocoa crushed almonds or biscuits according to your personal preferences. You can feel not only the mellow aroma of espresso but also the soft and sweet vanilla ice cream wheel.
Espresso can be made using an Italian coffee maker or a mocha pot / portable espresso machine. The advantage of Italian coffee machine is that espresso can show beautiful golden fat, and coffee will be extracted more fully and evenly, but the disadvantage is that the machine is expensive and troublesome to clean. The advantage of mocha pot / portable espresso is that it is easy to operate and suitable for family use. The disadvantage is that the coffee will be slightly less greasy and taste a little thinner.
To make the espresso used by Alfjado, Qianjie recommends people to use "Qianjie Coffee Sunflower with Coffee beans". This coffee bean uses 70% Honduran sherry coffee beans and 30% Yega Shirley red cherry coffee beans. the extracted coffee will show the flavor of whisky, soft sweet and sour berries, vanilla cream and nut caramel. go with Vanilla Ice Cream, just like Tira Misu's Afjiadow!
In the production of Alfjado, there is no prescribed ratio of coffee to ice cream, and the amount of coffee is determined according to personal preferences. In Italy, Afjiadow is an ice cream ball with espresso around 2oz.
How to extract espresso?
If you use an espresso machine, Qianjie Coffee recommends using 20g very fine ground coffee powder, extract 40g coffee liquid, extraction time 25-30 seconds as the flow rate test reference (SOE is not applicable). Detailed extraction method-(click here)
