Colombian Coffee Variety-Cattulachi Rosso you've never heard of!
When it comes to Colombian coffee, I believe there are already branches of coffee beans in your mind, such as Flower Moon Night, Rose Valley, cherry blossoms, San Jose, and so on. Some time ago, a unique Colombian coffee variety became popular with its unique floral aroma and lemon acidity, which may be a little strange to everyone. This coffee variety, which is still a new face to us, is called Caturra Chiroso. At the fifth LOD Fruit Land Coffee auction, three of the finalists were Caturachi Rosso, and two of them were bought by Chinese buyers.
What is Katulachi Rosso? What does it have to do with Katura?
As we all know, Caturra is a natural variety of Bourbon, discovered in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais between 1915 and 1918. Because Katula is a single gene mutation, its plants are relatively small, so Caturra means "small" in Guaran í.
Katulachi Rosso is said to be a natural variety of Katura, and it is only found in Urrao, in Colombia's Andean province. Why is it said? Because so far there is no official report on the genetic investigation of this breed * another reason is that the breed was discovered relatively late and not many people studied it.
This breed has officially entered the coffee circle and is famous in the coffee circle because in 2014, Carmen Montoya*, a coffee farmer from Antigua Ulau, won the top bid for COE with her Caturachiloso at the first COE in Colombia in 2014. And Carmen named this variety of Katura after Chiroso, because the leaves of this variety are uneven. The seed of Carmen's Chiloso comes from her father, and the earliest tree of Caturachi Rosso has been at least twenty years old.

Katulachi Rosso variety
Wulao, the birthplace of this variety, is located in the southwest of Antigua, about 64 kilometers from Medellin, another famous producing area of Antigua. The coffee producing area as a whole is located in the western Andes, with an average elevation of about 2000m, precipitation of about 2000mm and an average temperature of 19 ℃. Because the altitude of planting in this area is relatively high, the temperature of planting is relatively low. Originally, it was planted because of its resistance in cold climate and high yield, but now it is widely praised for its complex flower aroma and flavor characteristics.
Since the landowner Carmen put Catulaci Rosso on the international stage, coffee farmers from the Urau region have begun to grow varieties of Caturachi Rosso. In the description of the flavor of Katulachi Rosso, the most common words are the flavor of flowers, plums, peaches, lemon grass and so on. What is more important is that most of this variety is treated with traditional water washing. So what we taste is 100% coffee varieties and the flavor of the land.
