Chengdu narrow alley %arabica coffee shop design coffee shop design appreciation
How to awaken the sleeping local culture has become a hot topic in the design industry in recent years. As the younger generation pays more and more attention to the promotion and display of local culture, many people transform old buildings and integrate them with modern design, providing people with a space to get together and communicate, as well as opportunities to show local urban culture.
Today we are going to talk about% Arabica in the wide and narrow alley of Chengdu, a cafe opened in the courtyard of West Sichuan during the reign of Kangxi.
The building is located in a quiet and peaceful place in the noisy city. Everyone who comes here will slow down and feel the quiet years brought about by the old buildings. For this reason, the cafe is also built from the perspective of the old building, integrating the cafe into this space full of historical and cultural heritage, so that guests can not only drink coffee, but also feel the local history through the space details of the cafe.
In order for the cafe to retain the original appearance of the old building, all the wooden structures were preserved and reinforced with steel. The passage is paved with gray bricks, and seats made of gray bricks are scattered on both sides of the passage, which are integrated with the green bricks and tiles of the building itself. Bring the memory and historical and cultural atmosphere of the wide and narrow alley to the cafe, providing a rich space experience for every guest, so that everyone can stroll in the cafe to feel the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of this area.
The romance of the Chinese people is reflected in the atrium of the cafe. China pays attention to fengshui in architecture, and a pool is built in the courtyard facing the gate, which can make the whole family harmonious and rich. The pool originally has the meaning of gathering money, but also means that you can only get in and out. But if a courtyard pool is built in the cafe, it will make day-to-day management more difficult.
So the design team adopted the elements of the courtyard pool and laid stones in the atrium. Floor-to-ceiling glass is used around the "pool", which not only bathes the cafe in the quiet atmosphere brought by natural light, but also allows guests to feel the flow of water in the "pool" through the overall transparency of the space. In order to increase the visual effect, sleeping lotus leaves are placed in the atrium to make the whole look more like a crystal clear pool, and a pure white seat is surrounded by the floor-to-ceiling glass, creating a sense of the edge of the water.
Cafe bar location is designed in the front door through the courtyard "pool" directly opposite, using pure white tone, can better integrate with the natural tone of the building itself. The vibrant scene of the whole cafe will remind people of life in old Chengdu, and the overall spatial experience will change dynamically as guests move, talk, rest and enjoy.
By showing the original structure and traditional elements of the old building, and through the integration of minimalist aesthetics and modern cafes, it shows a continuous dialogue between history and modern times.
