After the first Shanghai Starbucks "Xiang Green Workshop" environmental protection coffee shop, the second Starbucks green store settled in Suzhou!
On January 14, the second Starbucks green store in China opened in Suzhou. This is the second Starbucks "green store" in China after Shanghai Starbucks "Xiang Green Workshop"!
Starbucks has announced that it will open 60 certified "green stores" in mainland China in the coming year, and gradually extend them to all new stores and upgrade stores in mainland China, so as to make continuous contributions to the low-carbon development path of the retail industry in China and the world. The opening of the second "green store" means that Starbucks has launched plans to build "green stores" nationwide.

What is the "green store" certification system? According to reports, the certification system, jointly developed by Starbucks and authoritative organizations, is the highest level of LEED green building certification. The certification system will be related to energy conservation, water sources, waste disposal and other areas. Certified stores must use efficient and low energy consumption related appliances, 100% mercury-free LED lamps, use low-flow faucets, adhere to garbage sorting, and so on. At the same time, the coffee grounds produced by the store will also be 100% used, and the aprons worn by employees will also be made from collected PET beverage bottles. In addition to these, the "green store" in Suzhou will also purchase green electricity through the national green card subscription platform, and strive to maximize the use of renewable energy.

Stores will use recyclable / biodegradable materials to make interiors, such as recycling wood from the renovation of other Starbucks stores across the country for desktops, or red bricks to make table feet. Starbucks says the design makes it easier for future desks to be dismantled and reassembled. It is reported that compared with other Starbucks regular stores of the same size, "green stores" will reduce carbon emissions by about 10.57 tons and save about 301.7 tons of water each year. If calculated according to 60 households, it would reduce carbon emissions by about 634.2 tons and save about 18102 tons of water each year.

In addition to "green stores", Starbucks has been encouraging consumers to bring their own cups to buy coffee, which can reduce the use of disposable paper cups and reduce environmental pollution caused by plastic film in paper cups. Xianglu Workshop, the first Starbucks to pass the certification of "green store" in China, has also taken the lead in using paper straws and strictly implementing the garbage sorting system, which has played a good "leading" role for other Starbucks stores and even other catering industries.
