When shot is put into a coffee shop, it is espresso with a similar effect. "A shot" means an espresso. Espresso was also designed to be fast, cheap and caffeinated.

But the shot in coffee does not simply refer to the capacity of the coffee liquid. Another word often heard in coffee shops is "Double shot", which means double espresso-14g coffee powder extracted from 60ml espresso. Therefore, now the extraction of espresso is based on the liquid weight. How much is 1 shot now? Nowadays, coffee shops generally use double powder bowls as standard products. The single powder bowl almost disappeared. And the proportion of espresso extracted is also shrinking. For example, in the past, a unit of espresso was 7g powder to extract 30ml, but now a unit of espresso is 16g powder to extract 32g (about 45ml) of coffee liquid.
In this way, we are in a very awkward situation. If one portion of a single powder bowl is "1 shot", then the double powder bowl used for production now is Double shot. In terms of the amount of coffee liquid, if the espresso extracted by two powder bowls is Double shot, then if the guest orders 1 shot, the espresso liquid is about 22ml, which is even less on the already small cup.
So, in this case, the coffee shop will take the espresso extracted by two powder bowls as a shot, and if the guest orders Double shot, it will be two espresso extracted by double powder bowls.
