What's the difference between soe and mixed beans? what does soe coffee mean? single beans?
The competition in coffee shops is fierce and can be reflected in the menu. In the past, if you wanted to go to a coffee shop to order a cup of coffee, you would at most wonder whether to drink latte or cabbage. Now just drinking a latte can make a combination of No. 1 coffee beans, No. 2 coffee beans and milk, oatmeal milk and coconut milk.
Usually at the beginning, I only wanted to order an ordinary latte, but with the strong recommendation of the shop assistant, the basic matching beans were "upgraded" to SOE coffee beans with 3 yuan, and then 5 yuan was "upgraded" from milk to coconut milk under the strong recommendation of the shop assistant. In this way, I originally wanted to drink a regular latte, but eventually turned into a SOE coconut milk latte (which seems to be a latte).
So the question is, from latte to SOE coconut milk latte, is it upgraded? is the latter better than the former? The moment you paid for it, it must have been an upgrade, because you increased the money. What you get by adding money is an upgrade, and replacing other things at the same price is called flat replacement. When drinking coffee, the inner activity is: "it should be better than ordinary latte coffee, to be exact, it is a different taste from ordinary latte." Based on the fact that many coffee shops use mixed beans as the base beans and SOE as the replacement beans for price increases. Therefore, many friends will think that SOE is more advanced and high-quality than matching.
But by definition, there is no one more advanced or better between SOE and matching. SOE can also be cheap and tasteless. Blended beans can also be delicious, the price is not cheap, in foreign countries, there are many independent coffee shops will launch a characteristic flavor of blended coffee beans, the price is not lower than SOE. In China, SOE forms a trend, which is mainly a commercial choice. Domestic commercial coffee started relatively late and has no historical burden, so it is easy to accept the trend of boutique coffee in the past 10 years (of course, it is also the national purse drum). It is also natural to think that single coffee tastes better than the coffee made with beans that I have drunk before, and it is expensive for a reason.
Matching beans is a technical job, and any effect you want can be achieved through matching. For example, coffee beans with very good flavor can be achieved regardless of cost, and it can also be achieved by combining coffee beans with good quality and low price with economy as the center. So blending beans mainly depends on the result you want, but in view of the fact that many coffee shops have chosen high-quality and cheap beans in the past, people's perception of mixed beans has been stereotyped. Compared to the original position of single bean is boutique coffee, so it is directly applied to Italian coffee to become SOE. In the positioning of merchants, SOE must be higher than matching beans. The logic is that whether it's SOE or blended beans, the main factor in quality and flavor is what kind of coffee beans you choose. With the increasing demand for coffee quality (flavor), it is an inevitable trend to introduce coffee beans with higher price and better flavor.
No matter it is a single product or a mix, it is a means. In view of the stereotyped influence that mixed beans are low-end beans, choosing a new concept of SOE can make people accept the fact of high-end beans. So merchants will focus on flavor when choosing SOE coffee beans, and the aim is to let people tell the difference from the basic model. So you won't see coffee shops offering Mantenin SOE, Luodou SOE, Brazilian SOE, usually Ethiopian SOE, Costa Rican SOE, anaerobic Colombian SOE, which have very different flavors from traditional blended beans. When the concept of SOE is fully popularized, the next trend concept will be boutique blending, and the already popular SOE beans will once again become the raw material of the formula. Seeing here, everyone should understand that SOE and matching are only a method, and no one is more high-end. From a technical level, matching is more difficult than SOE, but the upper limit after completion will be higher than that of individual items, that is, "1cm 1 > 2". Back to now, the overall quality of coffee beans is on the rise, and even the most basic blend beans are not so unbearable. The difference after the replacement of SOE coffee beans is that the flavor performance is different. The basic mix beans are traditional nut chocolate balanced flavor, and SOE is more special flavor, such as Sakui SOE will show sweet and sour berry flavor.
