How to choose the filter paper for hand-brewed coffee?
As the filter cup has a variety of strange gestures, so different forms of filter cups are often compared by people! This can easily lead to a problem: ignoring the important role of filtering-"filter paper".
Although the input of filter paper for the whole hand-brewed coffee is relatively small, in fact, whether a suitable filter paper has a great impact on the flavor of coffee. The popular words we often hear, such as "fit" and "paper taste", are closely related to filter paper. So today, Qianjie will share how to choose filter paper!
At present, the popular styles of filter paper on the market are mainly divided into three types: tapered filter paper, fan-shaped filter paper, and cake filter paper!
We can choose according to the filter cup we use, for example, conical filter paper is used for conical filter cups such as V60 and kono, fan-shaped filter paper is used for fan-shaped filter cups such as Melitta and Kalita, cake filter paper is selected for flat-bottomed filter cups, and there are also special filter cups like Origami, which are compatible with tapered filter paper and cake filter paper.
Filter paper model size is usually, in the purchase of filter cups and filter paper, we can see 01, 02 and other digital signs, they correspond to the size of the appliance! 01 is a small size filter cup / paper for 1 to 2 people, while 02 is a large filter cup / paper for 3 to 4 people.
If the small filter paper is used on the large filter cup, it will easily cause too much water to be injected during brewing, causing the coffee liquid and coffee powder to overflow from the filter paper and dripping into the pot; if the large filter paper is used on the small filter cup, it will easily affect the way of water injection and cause inconvenience. Therefore, when buying filter paper, it also depends on the size of the filter cup!
Log and bleaching are the most controversial in the selection of filter paper! As the name implies, it is the raw material for making filter paper, both of which are made from log pulp, but one is bleached and the other is not bleached. Log filter paper is unbleached straight out filter paper, although it does not have to worry about health problems, but it has a biggest disadvantage: the smell of paper is too big! If you do not use a lot of hot water to wash, the smell of paper will blend into the coffee, resulting in a negative taste of the coffee. Therefore, in order to ensure the "original taste" of coffee, almost no one will choose log filter paper.
As mentioned above, bleached filter paper is also made from log pulp. it does not have much paper flavor (or even none) and can restore the taste of coffee very well. But because it is bleached filter paper, people often worry about whether it will be toxic. But in fact, with the development of science and technology, many large brands of filter paper will use advanced enzyme bleaching, that is, the use of bioactive enzymes for bleaching! This is a technology widely used in the medical field, so the harm is almost negligible.
Filter paper quality of different brands of different filter paper, paper quality is different! For example, I bought a Spanish filter paper before Qianjie, the price is about 3 yuan each, which is ten times the price of the commonly used Kono filter paper! There are different performances in softness and launching speed.
Interested friends can buy several popular filter papers on the market and compare them to find a paper that suits their own cooking preferences. Like Qianjie, you tend to use soft paper and faster launching materials, just be loyal to your preferences!
