What are the characteristics of the Nalinglong coffee producing area in Colombia? What is the name of the manor?
South American coffee plays an important role in the global coffee market and is an important area of global coffee production, producing more than half of the world's coffee production every year. Among them, Brazil, which has the largest coffee production in the world, and Colombia, which produces the third largest coffee in the world, are in South America, but the planting patterns of the two countries are different. Brazil can build large-scale planting farms because of the flatter hills in the south, but Colombia is dominated by small coffee farms because of its mountainous areas.
In Colombia, coffee is mainly grown in the western Andes, which is mainly divided into the eastern, central and western Cordillera Mountains, with an average elevation of more than 3000 meters, as well as a number of volcanoes, accompanied by high elevations and geographical environments. the whole mountain range has a variety of microclimates, which run through many coffee producing areas in Colombia, thus shaping the unique flavor of coffee.
As a result, there are 15 coffee producing areas in Colombia, the main producing areas are the provinces of Cauca (Cauca), Santander (Santander), Antioquia (Antioquia), Nalinglong (Narino), Tolima (Tolima) and Huilan (Huila).
There are many well-known coffee farms in these coffee producing areas, such as El Diviso in the famous Huilan Huila area, La Roca in Tolima in Tolima, La Esperanza in Cauca in Cauca, etc., but those who have a long history of coffee have to mention El Obraje.
El Obraje is owned by the Guerrero family and is currently managed by Pablo Andres Guerrero. Oborah Manor is located in the town of Tangua in the south of Nalinglong Narino province. at first, the estate was famous for growing wheat and other grains, but then the government began to import grains, so the estate began to transform this other fruit and other crops, but also did not get very good development. It was not until 1999 that the government began to vigorously promote coffee cultivation, so Oborah began to grow coffee in early 2000, but at that time, Nalinglong Narino province was not a traditional coffee-growing area, and Oborah could be said to be a pioneer of Nalinglong.
Among the many coffee producing areas in Colombia, the most famous is Huila Huila, which has Colombia's highest volcanic Huila volcano and is located in the valley between the Eastern and Central Cordillera Mountains, protected by canyons, making it an ideal area for coffee cultivation. The Qianjie coffee rations bean series also includes coffee beans from Huilan, a well-known producing area of Colombia, which is selected in Kaddura and is washed with dark chocolate, nut and caramel flavor.
In recent years, other producing areas of Colombia have also come to the fore, such as the Nalinglong Narino producing area where Oborah Manor is located, also known as Narinho, located on the southwest coast of Colombia, near Ecuador, where there are many rivers and lakes, nearby Cumbal and Galeras volcanoes, and the town of Tangua, where Oborah Manor is located at the foot of Galeras. Volcanic ash provides fertile soil. And close to the equator, large temperature difference between day and night and moderate rainfall create an excellent environment for the production of high-quality coffee, so the coffee in Nalinglong producing area is famous for its complex flavor levels and floral fragrance.
However, it was not until 2010 that Oborah began to pay attention to coffee quality, introduced varieties such as Rosa Geisha, and gradually set up its own processing plant, and now Oborah has become the benchmark for the cultivation of high-quality coffee in Nalinglong. At present, the manor mainly grows Rosa Geisha and Kaddura Caturra, and divides a plot as an experimental plot for new varieties such as Sidra.
Later, he began to participate in local competitions in Colombia and won many awards. In 2020, he participated in the Excellence Cup COE competition, and in 2021, he won the COE championship for washing Rose Summer. Later, it opened its own coffee shop, Obraje Caf é Especial, and established a partnership with cooperatives in the Nalinglong region to help other coffee growers so that they can export coffee and provide high quality coffee to domestic and foreign markets.
