Although the output of coffee in Central America is not high, accounting for only 11% of the global coffee production, it is well known because many producing countries mainly produce high-quality coffee. Panama, for example, is famous for producing rose summer varieties with delicate floral, jasmine and peach aromas.

At first, the rose summer variety was not popular with local farmers when it came to Panama. Even though the rose summer variety at that time had some resistance to leaf rust, its plants were relatively fragile and needed a lot of time to take care of, so they were not widely planted. Until the unique flavor of the rose summer variety was discovered by the jadeite manor, and the rose summer variety was used to participate in the best Panama (BOP) competition and auction in 2005, the rose summer variety of the emerald manor won the first place with excellent results, got a very high appraisal, and broke the auction price record of raw coffee beans at that time, so the rose summer variety began to be famous in the coffee industry.

At the same time, in Panama, many coffee farms have begun to grow rose varieties one after another. At present, in the three major coffee producing areas of Boquete, Volcan-Candela and Renacimiento in Panama, there are also many well-known estates, such as Erida Manor and Jensen Manor Hartman Manor, but when it comes to one of the largest coffee growers in Panama, we have to mention the Gallardo Family family.

The Gallardo Family family has a long history of coffee cultivation. It has been grown since 1960. Since then, the Grado family owns five coffee plantations. Jos é Manuel Gallardo Sr of the Gallardo family began to manage the coffee farm in Panama in the 1970s, and his son, Jos é Manuel Gallardo Ara ú z, followed in his father's footsteps by running the family's coffee farm.

However, the Grado family initially planted some common varieties such as Typica, Kaddura Caturra and Kaduai Catuai coffee at lower elevations, until 2006, when the current owner, Jos é Manuel Gallardo Ara ú z, discovered that his Finca Nuguo estate had a unique planting environment and the ability to grow the rose summer Geisha variety, so he began to try to cultivate the rose summer variety at the Nugo estate.

Nugo Manor is located in the Jurutungo area of the Renacimiento producing area and is planted at an altitude of 1850-1900 meters. Among the three main producing areas in Panama, Renacimiento is not as well-known as Boquete and Volcan-Candela, all of which are weak in terms of processing and transportation infrastructure because of their remote location and difficult access. However, the producing area is also rich in natural resources.

The producing area of Renacimiento is located in the most marginal area of Panama, bordering Costa Rica. There is fertile soil provided by volcanic mountains nearby and is located near La Amistad International Park, La Amistad National Company, the largest natural rainforest reserve in Central America.

Thanks to the rainforest reserve here, coffee can shade this and make it an ideal growing environment for coffee because of its low night temperature, large temperature difference between day and night, high rainfall and high humidity. Nugo Manor, which covers an area of only 5 hectares, is named nuguo (Spanish for "bird") because it is close to the rainforest reserve and there are many different kinds of birds in the estate.

However, this environment is challenging for coffee processing, and great attention needs to be paid to its humidity and temperature to ensure the production of high-quality coffee. As a result, the landowner and his wife produce coffee from planting to processing, and have built a coffee processing plant so that it can be processed immediately after harvest, so that high-quality coffee can be produced. The Grado family won the water washing group for the first time in the Best Panama (BOP) at the Rose Summer produced by Nugo Manor in 2015, and has since appeared on the BOP list several times.
