Last Updated: 2024/12/04, For those who like to drink fruit acid and flower aroma coffee, Ethiopian coffee will definitely be remembered. Among the many coffee producing areas in Ethiopia, due to its geographical environment and climate, the coffee produced in the Yega Shefi producing area has obvious lemon and citrus fruit acids as its main flavor characteristics, and is deeply loved by many coffee hobbies.

For those who like to drink sour and floral coffee, they must think of Ethiopian coffee. Among the many coffee producing areas in Ethiopia, because of the geographical environment and climate, the coffee produced by Yega Xuefei is deeply loved by many coffee lovers because of its obvious acidity of lemon and citrus fruits.

At present, Qianjie Coffee has a variety of coffee beans from Yega Sheffei, Ethiopia, among which there is a coffee bean from Yega Sheffield. In addition, there are also coffee beans such as Guoding Tintin and Cochel in the Yega Sheffei producing area. However, you may wonder why most of the coffee beans in the Yegashefi producing area are named after regional names and cooperatives.

In the administrative division of Ethiopia, Yirgacheffe is a small town in West Dama, originally part of the Sidamo coffee producing area, but later, because its coffee has a unique flavor, it has been independently distinguished into a new coffee producing area and has become one of the most important coffee producing areas in the country. The Ethiopian government applied for a patent for the name of "Yirgacheffe" in 2004, which shows its importance.

The Yejashefi coffee producing area is not only a small town of Yega Sheffei, but also includes sub-producing areas such as Wenago, Kochere, Gedeb and so on. These sub-producing areas produce coffee with roughly the same flavor as Yega Sheffield, so they are also divided into Yega Sheffield producing areas.

The planting model in Yejassefi is mainly courtyard coffee (pastoral coffee), and most coffee trees are planted in the farmers' own backyards or mixed with other crops in their own fields, so there is not much coffee production per farmer, but this model accounts for more than half of the country's total coffee production.

In the harvest season for farmers, the coffee berries after harvest will be purchased by middlemen, or will be sent by farmers to a nearby processing station, where the acquired coffee berries will be treated and sold uniformly, and most of the coffee will be sold under the name of the region or the processing plant.

However, this also creates the problem that middlemen earn the price difference or deliberately depress the price, which reduces the income of farmers. The above problems led to the birth of "cooperatives". In order to reduce these losses, farmers joined together to raise funds to purchase machines, set up processing plants, and set up "cooperatives". The United farmers can handle the coffee berries they grow and then sell them in the name of the cooperative.

This cooperative model is very beneficial to the major smallholder farmers in Ethiopia. At present, there are more than 40 cooperatives in Yega Xuefei producing area alone, among which there is the more well-known Guoding cooperative.

The Goudingding Cooperative belongs to the Gedezi producing area of Godibe Town, which is located about 60 kilometers south of the town of Yega Sheffield. It is also one of the higher elevations of Yejashefi, planting up to 1900-2200 meters above sea level. Coffee is produced in villages such as Worka Sakaro, Halo Bariti, Banko Gotiti and Banko Dahato.

Originally located in the Worka area of the town, the Gottintin Cooperative was once part of the Waka Cooperative of the YCFCU of the Yega Sheffield Union. Later, with the development of boutique coffee, people have higher requirements for the traceability of coffee, and there is a more detailed distinction between sub-producing areas, so in 2012, about 300 farmers in Guodingding Village independently set up the current "Guodingding Cooperative".

Guodingding Cooperative is famous for producing high-quality coffee, using traditional but more rigorous and fine coffee processing methods, which can better retain the local coffee flavor. The coffee beans of the Guoding Cooperative in Qianjie are washed with a hint of flowers, citrus, berries and other fruit flavors, like caramel and taste clean and sweet.
