Recently, Tim, a Canadian national coffee chain brand, has set off a storm of public opinion on local social platforms, causing outrage and dissatisfaction among many netizens.

The incident occurred at a Tims store in Ontario, Canada. The person involved claimed that while she was in office, a store manager asked her to "fake marriage" with the manager's 25-year-old Indian relative to help him obtain permanent residency in Canada.

Judging from the chat records posted by employees, even if the person concerned told the manager that he was only 17 years old, the other party still ignored his age and suggested a "fake marriage" and said that he could pay 15,000 to 20,000 Canadian dollars (approximately RMB 76,000 to 100,000) after the event.

Faced with this "invitation," the female employee only felt panicked and asked another store manager for help. Unexpectedly, the manager did not believe that his colleague's actions were illegal acts of immigration fraud. Instead, he said that the manager just did not want his Indian relatives to be forced to return home because they did not have permanent residency, and revealed that "I know there are 4 people here who have done this, but they are fine."

Fortunately, the person involved was not moved by the store manager's words, but decisively resigned and left the store, informed his family about the incident and publicly posted the chat records of the two store managers on the Internet to expose the behavior. As public opinion evolves, the local police and immigration bureau have intervened, and Tims headquarters is also investigating this.

However, one wave has not subsided, and another wave has arisen. Local netizens broke the news below the post, saying that this Tims coffee shop had just changed its owner of East Indian descent, and then the store began to "slowly fire all old local employees" and replaced all store employees with their fellow villagers.

The comment mentioned that the store recently fired its last white female employee because she complained to the Department of Labor about the store's discriminatory policy of "recruiting only brown-skinned employees." The employee's family members were expelled when they went to the store to explain to the owner, so they raised a sign at the entrance of the store to protest against the store's behavior,"Boycott! Fired my wife of 16 years and kicked me out for no reason."

On the other hand, a post about "Tims 'unreasonable employment" also appeared on a local forum in Toronto. The poster said that his friend worked at Tims in downtown Toronto and went through a month and a half of unpaid training. After becoming a regular employee, the store paid only $8 per hour, which was less than half of the minimum hourly wage in Ontario of $17.6.

The poster revealed that a store employee had tried to report illegal activities by the store but was threatened. The store owner boasted to the employee that he had settled many LMIAs (Labor Market Impact Assessments) through his connections. Therefore, the poster was worried that his friend might face retaliation from the store owner after reporting it. Ask for help on how to help the international student defend his rights.

The successive revelations have angered many Canadians. They have said that Tims employees who have been treated unfairly should report the store and support these migrant workers in voicing their rights.

But at the same time, many people said that since the store hired Indian employees, Tims brand reputation in Canada has continued to decline, and has gradually become completely different from the warm and comfortable community store they had in their impression, admitting that they now have feelings about this national coffee brand's store operations were greatly disappointed.
