A cup of coffee a day is less likely to develop liver cancer.

As early as 1998, a Japanese survey found that among more than 10 2000 citizens, drinking more coffee can improve liver disease caused by alcoholism.

In 2005, another Japanese survey also found that among 110000 citizens, those who drank one or more cups of coffee a day were less likely to develop liver cancer.

In the United States, the National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHAES) also published an important long-term longitudinal study in 2005 in the Journal of Gastroenterology (Gastroenterology), an authoritative medical journal. They found that among 10, 000 ordinary citizens, those who drank more than two cups of coffee a day developed serious liver diseases, such as liver cirrhosis or liver cancer, and had a 40% risk of not drinking coffee.

Last year, another joint study by the National Institutes of Health and 12 top liver disease centers also found that among hepatitis C patients, those who drank one cup of coffee a day reduced the risk of liver function deterioration by 30%. Those who drank more than three cups a day reduced by 53%.

Caffeine has antifibrotic effect.

In basic science, a normal liver contains a small amount of fiber. However, after the liver is injured, the fiber in the liver will gradually increase. When the fiber in the liver reaches a serious level, we regard it as cirrhosis, and a hardened liver may lead to liver failure and liver cancer. Caffeine, the main ingredient of coffee, has the effect of anti-fibrosis and indirectly prevents the formation of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. In other basic studies, caffeine also has the effect of preventing the development of cancer.

Of course, the summary of the above studies is indirect. From a scientific point of view, to really prove that coffee can effectively prevent liver cancer, we need a prospective study, that is to say, 1000 people are told not to drink coffee, 1000 people drink one cup a day, and 1000 people drink three cups a day. Five or ten years later, look at the number of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer cases in each group and compare them.

But in my opinion, such a scientific forward-looking research is essentially very difficult to implement.

While we are looking forward to more research results, we might as well enjoy a cup of delicious Indonesian coffee every morning, which can not only refresh us, but also tonify the liver and kill two birds with one stone.
