Coffee making DIY (IV) method of making coffee by pressing pot
(beautiful family of French kettles)
The charm of DIY lies in doing it yourself and enjoying the fun. The beautiful pink castle of the siphon pot and the beauty of the coffee gushing out of the mocha pot are extremely beloved. Today, we will take you to play with a new instrument, the French kettle.
The structure of the French kettle is very simple. At first glance, I thought it was a more advanced water cup. Transparent glass wall (or plastic, with stainless steel sheet at the bottom), a pressure bar and lid with stainless steel filter, it is as simple as that, I believe you have guessed, such a simple structure, making coffee is just as easy.
Instead of siphon and mocha heating, the principle of the autoclave is to soak coffee powder in hot water to complete the extraction process.
The first step is to grind the coffee powder. The French press requires coffee powder to be ground a little thicker, because the hole in the filter is relatively large, and the powder is too fine to make the coffee have powder residue (it doesn't matter if you want to experience the charm of Turkish coffee. Friends who don't like coffee with dregs will grind it thicker), which will easily lead to excessive extraction.
Generally speaking, the ratio of powder to water in the French kettle is not very uniform. 15 to 20 grams of powder is fine for a cup of coffee. As for the amount of water, if you like the strong ones, you can add less water, and if you like the lighter ones, add more. DIY, just like it, but generally speaking, it is more appropriate to use a cup of 150--200ml water.
Take out the pressure bar and lid, place the powder at the bottom of the pot, and add hot water, preferably at about 95 degrees. It should be noted here that the pot should be tilted 45 degrees and hot water should be poured along the pot wall so as not to directly impact the powder and affect the taste of coffee.
Gently stir the coffee powder with bamboo slices to float the coffee oil on the top layer, this is because although the French kettle is soaked, it also needs to be mixed with bamboo slices to make the coffee flavor better. This is also the reason why the coffee made by the French kettle has a strong flavor. Many people think that the coffee made by the French kettle is second only to espresso in terms of richness.)
Put the lid on and press the bar down slightly to stop on top of the powder.
Soak for about 3 minutes (some say it is about 5 minutes, or personal preference, the longer the time, the stronger the flavor.)
Gently press down the pressure bar. The action must be light, in order to avoid the accident of cylinder explosion, but also to protect the equipment, at this time the coffee and powder will be separated, the filter layer of coffee can be poured out.
The cleaning of the pressure kettle is also relatively simple, just pour out the powder and clean it. But the filter should be cleaned carefully to prevent the fine powder from remaining in the mesh.
Put such a beautiful French pressure pot in the living room, in the face of curious friends, casually make a cup of mellow coffee, not only reflect the heart of the friends, you can also feel the fun of the barista, even if it is not easy to make a good cup of coffee (soaking time, grinding degree of different bean powder, different water temperature, and even the way of stirring will have an impact on the final cup) But as long as you can enjoy the fun of making coffee, the taste will gradually improve, and then you will really become a master of legal pressure.

Coffee making DIY (3) Mocha pot making coffee
Mocha pots, like siphon pots, are also popular coffee-making tools. Compared with the siphon pot, the structure of the mocha pot is simpler: generally speaking, the mocha pot is divided into two parts, the lower pot filled with water, with a safety relief valve, a coffee powder bowl, and an upper pot with a coffee guide tube. Some mocha pots have a filter screen, while others can use filter paper when making coffee.
