Last Updated: 2024/11/08, It has been 10 years since the opening of the first cat-themed coffee shop in Japan. According to statistics, there are about 175 stores in Japan.

Calico, a cat cafe in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is located on the second floor of an apartment building. Visitors need to wash their hands and disinfect when entering the cafe to get close to cats. Calico Café houses 52 cats, including Scottish Fold and British Shorthair. Between 30 and 40 cats take turns meeting visitors each day.

Cats are lounging in multi-story cat towers, shelves or boxes where they "like". The café has loose sofas for visitors to play with cats, as well as leisure facilities such as large TVs and comics. Visitors can enjoy a drink while playing, feeding and taking pictures of cats. The clerk of this coffee shop said,"Usually about 200 customers come to the store every day, more than one-third of whom are foreigners. In addition to the largest number of Europeans and Americans, there are also many tourists from Egypt, Congo and Thailand."
