Many people in Europe and the United States like to drink a cup of coffee to relieve the greasy after a fat-rich meal. But according to a recent report in the American Journal of Nutrition, researchers have found that this habit may double the increase in blood sugar, thereby affecting health.

Researchers at the University of Guelph in Canada selected a group of healthy men and first designed a lipid drink using the general "fat cocktail" method, which had the same effect as fat intake. Then, the subjects were asked to drink a certain amount of this lipid drink to simulate the fat intake of a big meal. Six hours after drinking, the subjects drank another glass of sugar water, and then measured their blood sugar levels. The results showed that the average blood sugar level of drinking sugar water after a big meal was 32% higher than that of healthy people who drank sugar water only after not eating a big meal.

After that, the researchers improved the method. Five hours after drinking, each of the subjects drank two cups of coffee, followed by a cup of sugar water. The results showed that the average blood sugar level of the subjects was 65% higher than that of healthy people who drank only sugar water without a big meal. This means that caffeine exacerbates the health damage caused by a high-fat diet. (circle)
