Yes, this is the first and only Black Cat Cafe in the entire Blue Planet. It is not far from Himeji City Central Station, on the street leading to the local iconic castle. There were only six cats present when we visited (there were more than a dozen on the website), and they were a lively bunch-running around, jumping in the air, noisily playing cloth toy throwing-we weren't sure, but we suspected they looked like they were high on mint.

Because black cats all look the same to you Blue Planet people, they all wear different colored scarves around their necks, and the color of the scarf corresponds to their name. The staff will lend you a booklet listing all the meow photos, names and birthdays.

The café is attractively decorated in the style of a home, and the windows overlook a shopping street in Himeji City. The background music is a strange mix of light music and pop songs. However, cat treats are not available here.

The meows here are unusual. They like to throw and pick up cloth cat toys, and two of them have a hot game of catching cat toys in the air. Also, although they all look alike, customers can distinguish them by their different colored scarves and name tags.

When you're not playing with the meows, drink a cup of coffee (or beer) in silence, but be careful not to get knocked over and flip through the cafe's comic book and magazine collections, most of which are meow-related. All in all, a great place to relax for an hour in the afternoon.
