Drinking coffee actually helps the brain work.

1. Drinking coffee. Coffee's refreshing properties help the brain function better. A recent study found that drinking coffee after learning new knowledge helped improve memory. Drinking coffee triggers the release of norepinephrine in the brain, which helps enhance the process of memory reinforcement.
2. Weight lifting. Researchers at Georgia Institute of Technology found that short periods of resistance exercise help improve memory for events such as lifting weights. In a controlled experiment, people who did weightlifting recalled the same photos 10 percent more than people who didn't. Saliva tests found that weightlifters had higher levels of norepinephrine, which improves memory.
3. Quit smoking. Quitting smoking not only reduces the risk of disease, but also improves memory. Smoking thins the cerebral cortex faster than normal aging, accelerating cognitive decline in adults, a study by mcgill university and edinburgh university has found.
4. Regular sex. A 2013 University of Maryland study found that long-term regular sex promotes the formation of new neurons in the brains of middle-aged mice. As long as the mice continued to have sex, age-related cognitive problems showed signs of improvement.

6. Arrange sleep time reasonably. A new study has found a strange pattern between memory and sleep: the brain keeps people awake when it absorbs new information, and sends them to sleep when it's ready to turn short-term memories into long-term memories.
7. Smell the rosemary. Mark Morse, head of the psychology department at the University of Rochester in the UK, said rosemary's scent helped form new long-term memories. Researchers found that people who stayed in rooms scented with rosemary oil remembered events and future tasks better than those who did not.
