London Cafe recommends Proud Archivist Cafe

London studio Studio Tilt has created the cafe and cultural space by the canal, inspired by cafes of the 17th and 18th centuries.

The cafe is located in a new building facing the Regent Canal. The challenge for the design is to create a flexible space that meets the functions of catering and exhibition at the same time. "how to create a bar (bar decoration effect), cafe, restaurant (restaurant decoration effect), library (library decoration effect), gallery, activity space and private area in a relatively small space? The answer is effective planning of cross-regional events and clear synergies. " The designer said.

Studio Tilt uses specific materials to define different areas and balance the relationship between private and open areas. Split the two layers, and a large amount of light pours in through the double-height windows. At the same time, it overlooks the canal channel. On the first floor, the black wooden floor contrasts sharply with the 6.5-meter-long white spruce bar (bar decoration effect picture). The planks of larch hang vertically from the ceiling and are made of recycled wood floors. The big table provides a place for people who work in groups to share their ideas.

A double-high bookshelf wall on the east side provides a cultural venue that can constantly change identity according to function, such as books, photography or exhibitions. The black steel structure separates the kitchen from the bar area. In contrast to the rustic materials of restaurants and cafes, the activity space is defined by black linoleum floors and intersects with a series of white steel doors.
