Mexico's "Economist" reported on June 20 that from the beginning of the coffee harvest in October last year to May this year, coffee exports from Latin America decreased by 6.82% year on year.

During the period, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru and the Dominican Republic exported a total of 17.8 million bags of coffee (60 kg each). Of these countries, only Colombia and Peru increased coffee exports by 28.52% and 7.73% respectively compared with the same period last year. Mexico had the largest decline in exports among these countries, with a decrease of 71.34 per cent, followed by El Salvador and Dominica, by 50.77 per cent and 31.84 per cent, respectively.

The decline in coffee exports is mainly due to the fact that a fungus has affected the growth of coffee trees since the emergence of a fungus in Central America and Mexico two years ago. In addition, Brazil, the world's largest exporter of coffee, did not provide relevant data.
