China Education online Zhejiang Station News (correspondent Yao Yixian reporter Chen Xianting) last Saturday, the first international coffee skills exchange competition for college students in 2015, co-sponsored by Zhejiang Institute of Economics and Technology and Singapore Institute of Management Development, kicked off at Zhejiang Institute of Economics and Technology. It is reported that this coffee contest has achieved the first exchange between Chinese and foreign college students of this type of competition in Zhejiang Province.

In the first coffee contest, college students showed their coffee skills.

The reporter learned that since 2006, the cooperation between Zhejiang Economic Institute and Singapore Institute of Management Development has enrolled a total of 611 students. The two sides have cooperated in various fields and achieved good results. This coffee contest is based on good cooperation. In the competition, three contestants from both sides took part in the competition for coffee skills. The Zhejiang Economic Institute sent three Chinese players, while the Singapore Institute of Management and Development two South Korean players and one Vietnamese player.

This competition consists of four judges, two from both China and New Zealand, and the referee is headed by Li Xiaoyang, general manager of Hangzhou Bei Fei Food Co., Ltd., who has been the judge of WBC World Barista Competition for many times.

The competition time for each contestant is less than 10 minutes, and two cups of espresso and two cappuccinos are made. In addition, three contestants from all sides are required to work together to complete two creative coffee drinks. In the whole process, the contestants describe the characteristics and significance of the works to the judges and the audience in English, so this competition is not only a competition of skills, but also a comprehensive display of English proficiency, cultural literacy and service spirit.

The judges scored the contestants' coffee form, taste, operation standardization, professionalism, service etiquette and service consciousness. After intense competition, Ding Peiyuan, who majored in hotel management of Zhejiang Institute of Economics, won the championship, while Park Changho (South Korea) and Ma Mingke, who majored in hotel management of Zhejiang Institute of Economics, won the second and second place respectively.

"I've been preparing for the competition for months, practicing every day from morning till night. Sometimes I have to make a dozen or even dozens of cups of coffee." When it comes to the hard work of practice, Ma Mingke feels that he enjoys it, which is exactly what he is interested in.

Park Changho, a Korean student majoring in hotels at the Institute of Management Development in Singapore, said that such a competition made him more diverse in coffee culture and came to Zhejiang Economic Institute to make a lot of friends and was very happy.

It is expected that the first coffee course will be held in hotel management next year.

It is understood that the China-Singapore Coffee Exchange Competition was proposed by the Singapore side and finally decided after many negotiations between the two schools. "the Singapore Institute of Management Development has a long history of offering coffee, alcohol and beverage courses." Huang Chunlin, vice president of Zhejiang Economic College, said in an interview that the holding of the coffee contest has played a significant role in promoting deeper exchanges between the two schools.

Huang Chunlin said that technology is a key factor in serving the country's innovation and development strategy. "skills are a very important part of college students' career, and coffee can integrate culture, skills, fashion and interests." Huang Chunlin said that the holding of the competition coincides with the Zhejiang Economic Institute's skills Culture month, which will certainly play a very important role in promoting students' spirit of advocating skills and promoting the in-depth development of international cooperation projects.

This coffee contest has been prepared for nearly two years, with a total investment of more than 300,000 yuan. Zhang Qiuyi, vice president of the School of Management Technology of Zhejiang Economic University, said, "all the equipment and machines are in accordance with the specifications of the international coffee competition, and they are very professional." Zhang Qiuyi said that this provides a very good platform for students to exchange coffee skills.

In fact, the idea of setting up a coffee course has been brewing for a long time. The coffee training base, which has invested 3 million yuan, has now been built and put into use. It is expected that a coffee course will be offered in hotel management next year. "nowadays, most young people like coffee to socialize, and coffee is not only a drink, but also a leisure way of life." Zhang Qiuyi said that at present, there are many job opportunities in the coffee industry, and the market prospect is also considerable. The reporter also learned that in the future, the school will also consider setting up leisure service and management majors based on coffee and tea culture, and follow the pace of the market to train talents who adapt to development.

Although the coffee course is offered in the hotel management major, it can be studied as a public elective course for students of other majors in the school. At present, the school has 3 or 4 teachers have participated in professional coffee course training, at the same time, the school will also hire industry experts and professors to teach.

"the school will form an online model for learning coffee knowledge and culture, and the offline base will be guided by teachers and experts to improve coffee skills, so as to better develop students' interest." Huang Chunlin told reporters.
