Development of Coffee in China Coffee production in Yunnan accelerates the development of coffee industry in Yunnan Province
Yunnan Province is the largest coffee bean production base in China. Recently, Yunnan Province has issued opinions to speed up the development of the coffee industry from the aspects of building a high-quality coffee bean production base, building leading enterprises, and upgrading the level of science and technology.
Yunnan Province issued the "Coffee Industry Development Plan (2010 color 2020)". It is proposed that Yunnan should be built into the world's high-quality coffee bean raw material base, the largest finishing production base and trade center in the next ten years.
By the end of 2009, there were about 450000 mu of coffee planting area in Yunnan Province, accounting for 99.3% of the national coffee planting area. The plan points out that to speed up the development of coffee industry in Yunnan Province, the most important thing is to build a production base of high-quality coffee beans, that is, to speed up the construction project of coffee industry demonstration area and the upgrading and renovation project of 350000 mu of medium-and low-yield coffee plantations. It is planned to carry out the renovation project of 350000 mu of medium-and low-yield coffee gardens in combination with the transformation of medium-and low-yield fields, comprehensive agricultural development and the construction of irrigation and water conservancy facilities, and transform 35000 mu of medium-and low-yield coffee gardens annually from 2010. By 2020, through the construction of coffee garden ditches, roads, pools and cellars, the renewal of old trees, the transformation of tree shapes, the replacement of crowns, the strengthening of water and fertilizer management, and the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests, the existing 350000 mu medium-and low-yield coffee garden will increase the yield of coffee beans by more than 30 kg per mu.
Coffee is a characteristic advantage industry and an important foreign exchange-earning agricultural product in hot areas of Yunnan Province. it is mainly produced in Baoshan, Dehong and Pu'er. At present, Yunnan Province has become the largest production and export base of coffee beans in China, but on the whole, the coffee industry in Yunnan Province is still in its infancy, with small industrial scale, short industrial chain, low added value and weak competitiveness.
The plan also proposes that Yunnan should build leading enterprises, encourage social capital to invest and build factories in Yunnan Province, and build international well-known brands. Introduce and cultivate a number of leading enterprises with a high starting point, large scale, wide coverage and strong driving force. At the same time, improve the standardization level of coffee industry in an all-round way. Starting with the two key links of planting and processing, we should further improve the coffee technology and product standard system, promote the construction of quality certification and monitoring system, and improve the level of standardized coffee production. Universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises inside and outside the province are encouraged to carry out scientific and technological services and development in coffee producing areas in the form of technological development, technical consultation, technology shareholding and technology transfer, so as to speed up the technological development of the coffee industry and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
At present, intensive processing is still one of the bottlenecks in the development of Yunnan coffee industry, and the export of raw materials is still the biggest source of profit for Yunnan coffee industry. Therefore, in the intensive and deep processing of coffee, in addition to increasing the existing production capacity of 3000 tons / year and 15000 tons / year of roasted coffee beans (powder), and building an instant coffee production line with an annual output of 1000 tons in Baoshan City, Yunnan will also focus on promoting the construction of Kunming Coffee intensive processing Industrial Park, establishing and improving the functions of trade exhibitions, trade sales, personnel training, warehousing and logistics, and network services. We will make every effort to build an international trading center for special agricultural products in Kunming, which focuses on coffee trading.
It is estimated that by 2015, the planting area of coffee in Yunnan Province will grow to 1 million mu, with an annual output of 96000 tons of coffee beans, with a total output value of more than 17 billion yuan.
