Nestle Foundation seeks high quality coffee
Since the free training of 4C (Common Code for the Coffee Community, general rules for the management of the coffee community) for the staff of Yunnan Cafe and Coffee companies in July last year, Nestle's Yunnan Coffee expert Group has provided free training to nearly 1800 coffee practitioners in Yunnan. Distribute 4C manuals, 4C units and validated pesticide lists and posters of "Nestle Coffee good Agricultural practices-Environmental and Social Sustainable Development" to help them meet 4C sustainability standards. At the same time, in order to encourage farmers to produce high-quality coffee in a 4C sustainable way, Nestl é recently set up a "4C incentive to create shared value Fund" to encourage farmers to produce high-quality coffee in a 4C sustainable way.
It is understood that 4C is a widely accepted management rule in the world involving the sustainable development of coffee cultivation, production, processing and other aspects of the supply chain. The purpose of 4C training is to promote the sustainable development of coffee production, processing and trade. In the 2012-2013 coffee bean purchasing season, more than 1 of the coffee beans purchased by Nestle's Pu'er purchasing station met the 4C standard and were mainly exported to the international market. Nestl é hopes that after 2015, all the coffee beans it buys in Yunnan will come from sustainable resources certified by 4C.
Mr. Hute, head of Nestl é coffee expert group in Yunnan, said: "since taking root in Yunnan in 1988, Nestl é has been contributing to the vigorous development of the coffee industry in Yunnan. Through the continuous 4C training for local coffee farmers and coffee growers, on the one hand, it will help farmers to give full play to their production potential, improve coffee quality and increase their income; on the other hand, it will help to establish a high-quality image of Yunnan coffee and provide a guarantee for Yunnan coffee to continue to enter the international market smoothly.
